Nancy, We would not have the gauge of the wire but it should show it stamped onto the wire itself. You could replace just the wire with the correct gauge wire and the correct connector. Otherwise you would need to replace the wire harness in the unit.

Hello Don, Since the thermal fuse is opened by high temperature, you should check the exhaust duct for crimps or clogs. Also, if it is excessively long or too many turns are in it the heat will blow past the drum seals and blow the thermal fuse. If it consists of flexible ducting, it should be removed and replaced with 4 inch solid, non-flexible galvanized or aluminum ducting. Any flexible or semi-flexible ducting is recommended AGAINST by all of the major appliance manufacturers, since the flexible ducting has been proven to consume more energy and cause longer dry times.

Make sure you have the proper voltage from L1 to Neutral and L2 to Neutral, while the dryer is running and heating. Check and make sure the vent hood flapper is not stuck open and allowing cold air to blow back into the blower assembly.

Andy, The 279816 Thermal fuse kit controls the power to the heater, so the dryer should run, but no heat. The other thermal fuse WP3392519 is located on the blower housing and controls the power to the motor. You need to check or replace this fuse first for a no start/run complaint.
