Angela June 22, 2022 for Model Number KEMS308SSS04 Kitchen Aid I installed the new element I purchased. When we turned the oven on broil to test it it had smoke coming off it and a funky smell. Is that normal?

Ron August 07, 2018 for Model Number KEBS278SSS04 The outer broil element is fried. The inner one looks normal. Will run a test, but short of that, what can cause the element to fry? I will purchase a replacement from u, but if something other than aged element, it will not do much good to purchase a new one if something else is causing the problem and fry a new one?
1 Answer Hello Ron, Most of the time when an element burns it is just its' time since it is designed to use the voltage applied. Even if there is a short, it will not cause the element to burn out, but to just remain energized with the switch is off. Read More...
Steve A. April 12, 2012 for Model Number KEMSW378SBL00 I am in the same boat....outer element doesn't work, but inner element does?
1 Answer Hello Steve. Test the outer element and see if it reads closed for continuity. If not, you will need to replace the element WP9760774 in the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Najma March 04, 2011 Pls help me. I am confuse as my broil when switched on, the outer ring is on, and the inner one does not come on. What could be the problem? Should replace the whole broil, or its something else? Thanks.
1 Answer Hello Najma. You can test the inner section of the broil element with a multi-meter. It should read closed or 0 for continuity. Be sure and disconnect the power before testing the element. Hope this helps. Read More...
