Symptoms of a bad thermal fuse include:

  • Dryer not starting
  • Dryer stopping mid-cycle
  • No power to the dryer

Hello Mike, This is not a thermostat. This is one of the coils on the safety valve. You should always replace the coils at the same time. They come in a kit with the two coils together as part number 279834. Kill the power to the unit before you start and if you have any mechanics gloves, it's not a bad idea as many edges inside the unit can break blood.
