Gregg June 24, 2014 for Model Number MDG6800AWW Maytag Dryer does not heat. The drum spins and all else works. Just No Heat. Just replaced the Thermal Fuse and still not heating. Please advise the next steps in diagnosing the problem. Thank You. Gregg
1 Answer Hello Gregg. You will need to test the thermostats and the flame sensor and make sure they are good. They should read closed for continuity. Also, check the igniter to see if it is good. If it is not glowing, test for power. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter for the testing procedures. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
1 Answer Harold, With the unit not shutting off during the auto dry cycle, the issue would most likely be caused by a faulty cycling thermostat. When the unit operates in the auto dry cycle, the timer motor does not get any power until the cycling thermostat shuts off. If this is not happing hten the issue is the cycling thermostat WP307250. Janine March 01, 2014 for Model Number Maytag Neptune MDG5500AWQ Gas dryer igniter glows red then gas come on, and ignites for about 15-30 seconds (it varies) then the flame turns off and the igniter stops glowing red. I changed the igniter assembly first but this did not solve the problem. I then changed both gas coils but this also did not solve the problem. What else could be wrong?
1 Answer Hello Janine. Check and see if the flame sensor is not resetting and is bad on the unit. Read More...
1 Answer Hello Doll. Check and make sure you have 240 volts coming to the dryer. Check and make sure the unit is not set to Air Fluff. Also check the heater and thermostats and see if they are good. You can test these with a multi-meter MA-DM1. They should read closed for continuity. Nroh August 07, 2012 for Model Number MDE3000AYW Maytag electric dryer First, is this the right thermal switch for this model? The original switch number is 16 3700920. Second, what do I check to determine what caused the switch to blow? There are actually two thermal switches on this dryer. one is mounted outside the heat tube. This one is mounted in the duct from the motor fan to the rear of the dryer.
1 Answer Hello Nroh. Yes, Usually a clogged or kinked vent causes the thermal fuse WP33001762 to blow in the unit. Read More...
Mike April 30, 2012 for Model Number MDG5500AWW My gas dryer comes on, the glow bar turns red and the gas lights. Then the gas goes out, the glow bar will turn red but no gas. This will go on for a few times, then the gas will light but goes out quickly. I was told that this is a thermostat that is bad, but now which one? I think there are 3 thermostats, sensors etc.
1 Answer Hello Mike, This is not a thermostat. This is one of the coils on the safety valve. You should always replace the coils at the same time. They come in a kit with the two coils together as part number 279834. Kill the power to the unit before you start and if you have any mechanics gloves, it's not a bad idea as many edges inside the unit can break blood. Read More...
