The Air Vent Gasket is an OEM part for Whirlpool dishwashers. It is designed to seal the air vent, preventing water from leaking out during the dishwasher's operation. This gasket plays a critical role in maintaining the efficiency and effectiveness of your dishwasher by ensuring a watertight seal around the air vent, which is essential for the proper function of the venting system.

Causes of a bad Air Vent Gasket can include wear and tear over time, leading to cracks or deterioration, improper installation, which may result in a poor seal, or damage from harsh cleaning chemicals.

Symptoms of a bad Air Vent Gasket include:

  • Water leaking from around the dishwasher's door.
  • Dishes not drying properly due to compromised venting.
  • Visible signs of wear or damage on the gasket itself.

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

Hello Alex, I would recommend to remove the screws securing the door liner and make sure the front seal isn't leaking. It just seems to me that if the seal you are looking at is leaking, the leak should run down the door liner back into the tub. If it is leaking, you will have to replace the complete vent assembly WP8545533 because the seal isn't available without the assembly.

Hello Jim. Remove the screws securing the inner door line, and unscrew the vent off the door panel. You can now access and replace the gasket WP8269259. The vent cover has tabs that twist to lock into place and twist to unlock. Hope this helps.
