This genuine OEM replacement part is a switch membrane touchpad made for ovens. The switch membrane touchpad is the plastic display piece on the oven that holds the buttons that control the oven's essential functions. If the touchpad is worn out and the buttons are no longer responding when pushed, it might be time to replace the touchpad. Luckily replacing this part is not a difficult repair. To replace a damaged touchpad, make sure to turn off all power to the oven by unplugging the appliance or shutting off the circuit breaker. After the power to the oven is turned off, take a putty knife to pry off the old touchpad cover. Gently pull it away from the stove's control panel until it comes off. There should be enough adhesive left over to place the new touchpad back to its original place. Be sure to line up the touchpad so that it fits perfectly. This replacement part is sold individually and is compatible with Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Sears/Kenmore brand ovens.

For Whirlpool Switch Membrane Touchpad (Part Number: OEM18042291)

Mike for Model Number KESS907SBL04

We had a water boil over on stove, water rolled off front of stove across keypad area. Key pad buttons do not work, but the digital display works. Display showed an error code F2 E1/ STUCK/SHORTED KEY. Shut breaker off 5 minutes now screen is flashing to set capacity. Still no response from keypad. I need to access the cables to check that but I can't see how to remove the control assembly. All videos I seen are for the model that has the control panel on top back stove, this model has the control panel on front below cooktop. How do I remove control panel assembly ? What pins can I test to make sure the part is bad ?

Mike, as the keypad had water run on it, the water would have shorted out the keys. If the keypad was allowed to thoroughly dry and it is still showing this error, the keypad WP9761566 would need to be replaced as the manufacturer does not have a testing procedure for this part. With the power supply to this appliance turned off, the trim at the bottom of the console would need to be removed by taking out the mounting screws. This should allow the console to lift slightly up and out, granting access to the control and keypad.

Alex, Here are the steps to take for diagnosing this error. A. Unplug range or disconnect power. B. Open the console and make sure the P6 connector on the appliance manager and the P2 connector on the user interface are fully inserted. If not, plug in connectors and go to step F. If fully plugged in, go to step C. C. Visually inspect all of the four wires between P6 on the appliance manager and P2 on the user interface. Make sure the wires are not cut or pinched. If the wires appear to be intact, perform a continuity check between Pin 4 of the appliance manager and Pin 4 of the user interface. Do the same for Pins 1, 2, and 5. Both of these checks should result in a reading of less than 5O. If either of these checks fail, go to step E. If these checks pass, reconnect P2, then go to step D. D. Replace the appliance manager. Ensure all connectors are properly seated; then go to step F. E. Replace the wiring harness (signal) and go to step F. F. Ensure all wiring connections are made. G. Replace all parts and panels before operating. H. Plug in range or reconnect power. I. Observe for longer than one minute. J. If the error does not appear, initiate a bake cycle. Let the cycle run at least one minute. If no error occurs, cancel the cycle. The problem has been repaired. If the error occurs again, restart the troubleshooting procedure at step A (except in step D replace the user interface if the appliance manager has already been replaced).

Hello Mitchel, in bake mode the Control Board defaults to start at 350 degrees Fahrenheit which is the same as 175 degrees Celsius. Before you consider replacing any parts check if the temperature setting was changed. This is covered in the Owner's guide. Under Options ,the procedure is as follows: "Fahrenheit is the default setting, but setting may be changed to Celsius. To Change: Press OPTIONS, then 1 on the keypad for Celsius. To convert back to Fahrenheit, press OPTIONS, then 1 again on the keypad".

Hello Pam, likely the wire harness that connects the switch membrane to the control board is causing the problem, if you would repost your question with the model number we can locate the correct part for you.

Peter for Model Number KGRS807SSS01

Hi. We have the KitchenAid KGRS807SSS01 model. After a self-cleaning cancellation, the oven light stays on and the automatic latch assembly stays locked even with the light on. Running diagnostics comes up with the F2E1 error code "Stuck or Shorted Key". I've seen other answers that the membrane needs to be replaced. Do you recommend anything else or another way to confirm the solution? The manufacturer part number is WP9761566 (or AP6014094). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Peter

Hello Peter, going by the fault code it indicates the touchpad/membrane switch assembly WP9761566 is shorted, this can interfere with control board operation. There is a communication harness that links the 2 parts W11209404 this can be checked for wire problems..

Ranny, You will want to check the ribbon harness connection between the control board and the keypad and if the connection is good then he touchpad WP9761566 would be the most likely issue.

Greg for Model Number KESS907SSS00

I have had the code "F1E0 replace UI" come up on the display several times. The oven won't work but so far it has cleared and will start working again. It works for several weeks and the same code will appear in the display again. It seems that when the code appears , it is when the oven and a couple of the burners on the cooktop are being used. The display and all of the touch pads work OK. What part needs to be replaced? I am afraid that the code won't clear and then We can't use the oven or something else may burn out.

1 Answer

Hello Greg, when this code appears the oven's appliance manager board is having a problem communicating with the user interface/display board, there is a 4 wire haness linking the 2 boards, P2 to P6 connectors, access and inspect both the wire harness and manager board.

Hello Robert, If connections are all good and the unit makes no sound when the button is pressed, the issue can be the membrane switch WP9761566. If the unit makes a beeping sound when the button is depressed, the issue could be a stuck relay on the control WP9762774.

Paul, You will want to test the transformer to make sure that it is good. If the transformer is good then this issue will most likely be a faulty appliance manager on the unit.
