Symptoms of a bad Fan Motor & Harness include:

  • Inadequate cooling in the refrigerator or freezer

  • The fan not operating at all
  • Fluctuating temperatures inside the refrigerator

Luc for Model Number WRF767SDEM01

Freezer work great but the refrigerator part is cool (50 degrees) but don’t get cold enough not sure of what part I need yet have not started looking in to it do have two ideas one is the damper and other is evaporator motor and thermistor, what would be your thoughts? The whirlpool refrigerator is less then 4yrs old would like it to last longer than that. Another problem is when we open doors at times the light doesn’t come on for days, then other times they work okay for days what would be the problem? Thanks

Luc, Thanks for the question and based on the model number provided start by locating the tech sheet packaged with your machine and run the self-diagnostics. Also, check to see what all is running (evaporator, and condenser fans, and compressor).

Amateur for Model Number KRFF707ESS01

I have a KitchenAid French-Door refrigerator (Model: KRFF707ESS01) that’s been in flawless service since April 9, 2018, wherein the refrigerator temperature (set at 34º F.) is presently measured at 45º F.; the freezer temp (set at -5º F.) is measured at 4º F.; and produces diminished ice-cube output. Although, there exists a warm air flow across the compressor coils, there is no evident airflow through the circulation vent at top/center of the refrigerator compartment, which vent is unobstructed—as are the vents in the freezer. Yet, there exists a high-pitched noise, emitted from the top/ceiling of the refrigerator compartment. Does the lack of air circulation from the refrigerator vent and the existence of the high-pitched notice imply that I might require AP6038342?

Hello Amateur, airflow from the center air tower is provided by the fan assembly [AP60338342], the noise at the top of the fresh food section may be from the ice maker's ice fan W10846539.

Patrick, there is an evaporator thermistor and not a defrost bimetal. You will need to remove all the shelves to access the refrigerator evaporator. Make sure the thermistor has not come loose or has moved. It needs to be firmly attached to the suction line. Check the fan motor to make sure that it is running. There is not a heater so the coils are defrosted by the freon being diverted to the freezer evaporator coils and the temperature of the refrigerator being above freezing.

Hello Paul, I'm sorry but we are not set up with any of the manufacturers in respect to warranty coverage. Parts can be purchases from us but the reimbursal from the manufacturer is out of our realm of expertise.
