The Defrost Drain Tube Heater Probe is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool refrigerators. Located near the drainage tube in the refrigerator liner, this probe monitors and controls the defrost drain tube heater.

Causes of a bad defrost drain tube heater probe include cracked solder joints or wiring connections due to normal vibration over time. Without the proper functioning of this probe, the drain tube heater will not activate during defrost cycles.

Symptoms of a bad defrost drain tube heater probe include:

  • Accumulation of ice or water in the drain tube drainage area  
  • Inability to fully defrost and clear buildup from the drain tube
  • Error codes indicating heating element issues

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Tom, Yes, the 819043 Defrost Heat Probe will work in your refrigerator. It's a somewhat "universal" repair part and may need some minor manipulation to fit properly. Also check and make sure the defrost drain line in the cabinet is "free" and clear of any debris, and the both doors close and seal properly. Thanks,

Manoj, Not sure why the adhesive strips were in the kit but the tube is supposed to go into the drain hole. It is not necessary to put the tube in place and would just need the heat probe.

Hello Steve. You will see the defrost heater on the bottom of the evaporator. The probe goes on the heater and into the drain hole under the evaporator. Thank you.

Hello Steve. They do not list a heat probe for your unit. You need to make sure you clean out the drain on the unit. If the drain has a blockage the unit will freeze over. Also make sure the freezer is not too cold.

Tony, Yes, the 819043 / 819043 Heat-Probe will work in your Sears/Kenmore refrigerator. Just follow the instructions with the kit and you'll be fine. You have checked to make sure the defrost drain tube inside the cabinet isn't blocked or restricted ?

Pascal, We are not showing a heat probe that will work for this unit although if you have a calrod heater then this probe 819043 should work.
