Junglebook November 12, 2013 for Model Number GX5FHTXVY06 is this compatible with my unit? if not can you recommend an alternate part? will wire wrapped around the defrost and into the drain really help? Thanks in advance
1 Answer Junglebook, Yes the 819043 Heat Probe will work in your refrigerator, it's more or less a "universal" repair for freezing defrost drain pans, and it does actually work in most, if not all circumstances. Just make sure the defrost drain tube is not blocked with debris, and the kit is installed according to the instructions and you should be fine. Read More...
Geri September 27, 2013 for Model Number ET18PKXGW01 Sounds like the heat probe is what may help keep the drain hole in my freezer from icing up.. I have manually defrosted the freezer (getting quite good at it) repeatedly...ice keeps forming in the tray and the drain hole; I clear it..everything's fine for almost a week..then same thing all over.. Also can't seem to get the temp setting in refrigerator below 45 now, while freezer is between 0 and -10.. and as more days past since the defrost, the refrigerator gets warmer, no matter where I turn the temp setting... SO frustrating. Fridge is 15 years old, but have been having this problem for last many years, probably 7 or 8.. just put up with water in bottom bins for a long time, till I realized what was happening with drain hole. This should NOT be happening.. When I put my model # in for compatibility check for the heat probe parts #, it said not compatible... What WILL work??..
1 Answer Geri, The heat probe 819043 will work for your unit and does not show on compatibility chart because it is an add on kit and not part of the parts breakdown for the model. Read More...
