Paul March 22, 2016 for Model Number Whirlpool GHW9400PLO The heater element is displaced. how is it replaced back into the basket?
1 Answer Paul, If the heater element has come loose from the tub then unscrew the nut in the center of the heater bracket and push back into the tub assembly and tighten it down. If it will not stay in place then the heater would need to be replaced. Read More...
Mike W August 04, 2015 for Model Number WW9200SQ00 When running the appliance in "Whitest Whites" mode, it tripped a breaker in my circuit panel box. Has not happened before. No error codes were displayed after the power was restored. After a few attempts at resetting, I decided to test the unit with a "Normal" cycle. It ran completely through the cycle without tripping the breaker. I am guessing that the heater element is bad. can you provide any guidance on how to confirm? btw- where is the heating element located? Is is reasonably simple to replace for a 'handy' guy?
1 Answer Hello Mike. WPW10426377 is the heater and it is located in the front of the washer tub at the bottom. These are not hard to replace, just make sure the unit is drained out and the power is off. Read More...
Jim June 26, 2015 for Model Number 110.47561601 Hello. I am getting the 24-F error code. I removed the front lower panel on washer and could not find the temp switch. upon further net investigating I found mine on the back with the heater. are these the same temp switches ? and can it be replaced separate from the heater ?
1 Answer Hello Jim. If during the Wash Cycle in the water-heating step, the water temperature sensor (NTC) value is out of range (-5°C to 103°C). Possible Causes / Procedure 1. Unplug washer or disconnect power. 2. Check the water temperature sensor and connection to it. 3. Check resistance of heating element, if present on this model. Yes, the thermistor is part of the heater. Read More...

Bruce June 07, 2013 for Model Number 11042922200 Order Number: 3407805 I have a Kenmore/Whirlpool washer, model # 11042922200, and I was getting a fault code F/05. As a result, I have replaced the water temperature sensor and heating element (not sure if maybe the replacement parts are defective - maybe previously used as they were not in a sealed bag but in a taped box). Anyway, when I started up the washer again, I got the F/05 fault code again. After cancelling it, I then get the F/11 code. So now after replacing the temp sensor and heating element, I am getting the F/05 and then F/11 fault codes. Suggestions? The connections seem good on the heating element and all wires were reconnected.
1 Answer Bruce, If you test the heater resistance and the thermistor resistance per the tech sheet and if they both check ok and the wiring is good, then you will want to replace the main control board. Read More...
Steve October 22, 2012 Can I touch the heating element with my hands and fingers or will the element burn out because of the oils from my skin ?

Rich January 24, 2012 for Model Number GHW9460PL0 My Whirlpool Washer keeps giving a F-05 fail code. I replaced the ntc sensor and still have the problem. I removed the heating element and it looks perfect, maybe too perfect. Shouldn't it have scale or something? This is clean and doesn't show any signs of being a heavily used 6 year old machine. I checked the resistance and it is giving 14.5 ohms resistance across the terminals. Do you think the problem is this element?
1 Answer Hello Rich. Based on the information you provided, the heater WPW10426377 is testing good. It sounds like the wiring harness going from the heater to the CCU is bad, or the CCU is bad. You will need to check and see if the wiring harness is good on the unit. If so, replace the CCU WP8182694. Hope this helps. Read More...
Sandy August 19, 2011 for Model Number 110-49962602 the heater gasket failed after the element was removed and then put back into place. It was definitely pushed in all the way. Does it need a replacement gasket?
1 Answer Sandy, No, you do not need a repalcement gasket. there is a seal built into the metal flange of the heater assembly, as you tightne the mounting bolt in the center the gasket will seal around the entire assembly, provided there's no nicks or damage to the heayter opening on the tub and the hetar is properly installed. Good Luck and Thanks Read More...
