Deborah December 12, 2017 for Model Number MVWC6ESWW1 Washer not agitating, replaced upper agitator kit. It still doesn't agitate. It spins fine. The teeth on the agitator base looks fine. Watched your repair videos. Could it be anything else besides the motor coupling? Thanks! Deborah
1 Answer Deborah, With the unit not agitating and the agitator kit replaced then this will be a faulty transmission as the unit would not spin or agitate if the coupler was broken. Read More...
1 Answer Jason, You will want to check the hoses and the drain pump for leaking if there is no leaking from these parts then the tub center post seal would be most likely. Also check to make sure that the pressure hose is not disconnected from the tub. Read More...
L. Calesano June 14, 2015 for Model Number Whirlpool Heavy Duty Toploader Mdl 3XLA87W92BQ0 Not spinning/agitating. Water does fill. Very soft whirring is only sound audible from motor when switch moved by hand to draining cycle. I replaced H.D. Motor Coupling as per video, with new metal enhanced one, found one coupler broken. New Couplings fitted so don't think it was tapped too far over shaft. What is the most likely fault I must look at next? Thank you.
1 Answer L. Calesano, The whirring noise could be the motor running, but then the washer should drain regardless of the agitate or spin. If you're sure you have the coupler installed properly, then you need to check the gearcase. Remove the motor and the half of the coupler attached to the motor shaft. Use the remainder of the coupler on the gearcase drive and turn the coupler in the counter clockwise direction, the agitator should oscillate back and forth. Turn the coupler clock wise and the tub should start to spin slowly, and it may be a bit hard to turn. If the washer doesn't agitate, or spin you have a gearcase problem. Read More...
Fred May 18, 2015 for Model Number GST9679PW1 Washer does everything correct except the very final spin, it does not spin at all except when I rock and roll the tub back and forth, then some times it catches with a thud clank on metal and will finish the final spin. I bought the motor coupling assembly from you but want to know if I needed anything else before I try to fix it. Thanks for your help. Fred
1 Answer Hello Fred. To fix the issue your having you will need to replace the clutch 285785 in the unit. Read More...
Greg December 03, 2014 for Model Number MTW5830TW0 The Maytag washer will pump in and drain the water but it will not spin or agitate. The motor coupler is good and the lid switch is good. The motor and transmission spin freely. Could it be the motor or what else should I be checking. Before taking the washer apart and dialing it to spin the motor would just hummed. Is it possible for the motor to pump the water but have a problem spinning and agitating? Thanks,
1 Answer Greg, This issue would most likely be caused by a faulty gearcase. The motor will not pump the water out but not spin or agitate. Read More...
Bob March 09, 2014 for Model Number MTW5840TWO Washer wont spin put a new clutch assembly in it and it worked for about a week now it wont spin again.new clutch assembly looks fine just wondering if transmission could be bad. I can spin motor and lock transmission together like it would be spinning and it seems fine .Any ideas?
1 Answer Bob, You will want to check the brakes of the unit to make sure that they are good. If the brakes are not releasing then the unit will be unable to spin. Also check the drive block for damage and to make sure that the inner tub is not sitting down too far and making contact with the outer tub which would cause this issue as well. Read More...
Frank August 08, 2013 I am replacing the coupling on my kenmore washer. the new part, ER285753A has a metal sleeve inserted which lasted one spinning of a load of towels then the metal came loose in the plastic. My question, does the heavy duty coupling 285852A have the same metal sleeve insert or is it solid plastic as shown on your web page? Thanks.
Chris June 06, 2013 for Model Number Whirlpool LTE5243DQ When I was washing clothes, the washer filled up, washed but it won't agitate or spin. It doesn't work for any other cycle. I replaced the lid switch but still had the same problem. Well, when I was emptying the washer with a bucket since it had water in it, I literally just bumped the dome and it started to work. Is the problem with the motor coupling being off-balanced or is it going bad? Is it the agitator that's going bad?
1 Answer Hello Chris, This sounds like the contacts in the pressure switch (AP2947148) could be the issue. Read More...
Larry January 24, 2012 for Model Number 110.20702990 Kenmore washer Was spinning weak, so changed out direct drive motor coupler two months ago. All was good until today it stopped spinning or agitating. Pumps, so motor must be running. Pulled off motor and transmission. Clutch and brakes look fine. Then noticed the triangular-shaped coupler on the motor side had slipped down below the fitting on the motor shaft, so it doesn't turn when the motor turns. I must have tapped it down too far when I installed it. How can I get it off without breaking it? Or should I just break it off and try replacing again?
1 Answer Hello Larry. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the motor coupling 285852A will need to be replaced. If it has went that far onto the shaft, it is rounded out on the unit. Hope this helps. Read More...
