Steve, There is no video on this disassembly but it would require removing the outer door panel and completely disconnecting the wire harness from the control and dispenser then find the hinges and pry the holding tab out of the way so the door can be removed.

Hello Robert. If the unit is level, you will need to check and see if the hinges are bent or out of place. If so, it will cause the issue your having with the unit. Thank you.

Hello Becca, Your unit does have springs. If you look at the parts explosion of model number KUDP01FLSS6, you will see the springs illustrated as item number 18. The common failure in this case is the door balance links 8194001. This can be installed by pulling the unit out from under the countertop about 6 inches. There will be one on each side of the unit. The link simply hooks onto the end of the spring, around the door balance mount and connects to the end of the door hinge.

Larry for Model Number Dishwasher Kudio 1FLSS3 *or* Kubio 1FLSS3

The door slams down when opening and is very heavy, as if the door spring(?) isn't holding. I opened the bottom panel and could see a metal spring lying loose on the floor on the right side. I also saw what looked like a broken white/cream-colour plastic part on both the left and right sides. WHY did this break and how do I fix it? Is there a "recall" or free replacement and fix for this? The model# is says KUDIO 1FLSS3 even though the closest I found on your website is KUDSO 1FLSS3. Ser# FR2017164.

1 Answer

Larry, model should read KUDI01FLSS3. You will need to replace the parts in the door balance link kit 8194001 and spring WP8270182 if broken. Over time the cables in the kit break due to wear and tear and age. We do not have any information on any recalls regarding this item. Thanks!

Hello James, The door is adjusted by leveling the unit. Think of it like a box standing up on end. If one corner isn't touching the floor, it throws a warp in the box and it won't be square. It's the same way with the dishwasher. If one foot isn't touching the floor or one foot is adjusted too long, it throws a warp in the body that affects the door strike.

Hello Richard. If the wiring harness is burnt on the unit you will need to replace the harness on the unit. Usually this issue you are having is caused by the fuse W10258275 in the unit, and sometimes, they may test good and really be bad in the unit.

Hello Tom. Check the hinges W11612302 and make sure they are not bent. if they are good, check the springs WP8270182 and the links 8194001 on the unit and see if either is bad on the unit. You will need to pull out the dishwasher 8 to 12" to check these parts. The electrical and water should be turned off to do this.

Jane for Model Number kuds01flss

The door hinges on my Kitchenaid are very noisy. Silicone spray did not help. Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks for a great forum. We were able to fix the door spring based on the information I found on this site. When my visiting sister pushed on the door when it was in the down position, we heard a loud snap. The door seemed heavier than normal. When we reinstalled the dishwasher after our kitchen remodel, the door was like a block of lead. It seems the first snap may have been the balance/pullety system pulling loose and when we removed the dishwasher the spring fell off completely. We later found the missing spring and reinstalled it. Problem solved!

Jane, Silicone spray, is not the best libricant to use on hinges, You should be using something like, white lithium grease, wheel axle grease, or moly kote grease. You also need to check the springs WP8270182 and roller assemblies 8194001 That's where the majority of door hing noises come from. Good Luck.
