The Drain Hose is an OEM part for Whirlpool dishwashers. This flexible hose is designed to carry waste water from the dishwasher to the kitchen drain system or garbage disposal, ensuring that the dishwasher drains properly after each wash cycle.

Causes of damage to the Drain Hose often involve regular wear and tear, bending or kinking of the hose during installation or maintenance activities, or deterioration over time due to exposure to hot water and detergents.

Symptoms of a bad Drain Hose include:

  • Water remaining in the bottom of the dishwasher after a cycle
  • Leaks found under or behind the dishwasher, which could be due to holes, cracks, or loose connections in the drain hose.
  • Unpleasant odors emanating from the dishwasher, potentially caused by food particles or debris caught in a hose that is not draining correctly.

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

When the new sink was installed, the drain hose was nicked. The new sink will require the drain plumbing to be a bit lower as the new sink is deeper. The damaged hose goes through cabinet gable at the top right rear corner of D/W (as you look into it) right below the counter top, then across and down to drain bib above P trap. My booklet says hose is 8269144 (6 1/2 feet), your hose says 8269144A, 6 feet? Is there a difference because of the "A" suffix? If the hose will not reach the drain using the above route when the new drain pipes are completed, can I go under the D/W on the floor at the back and into the lower cabinet side and up to the drain bib? Will this cause any issue like siphoning? I believe where this hose connects to another hose that is looped on the left side of the D/W? In the most unlikely case, is there a longer hose that plugs into the looped hose at the side of the D/W? Thanks

Hello Ron, As per design, the drain line has to go up to countertop height and then back down to the drain or it will cause a siphon condition. The manufacturer did the design change on the drain line 8269144A but if this is not long enough you can use a drain line extension 3385556.

Recently I started having an issue with lots of debris in my filter. I don't think it's coming from the dishes as I've even run it empty and found the filter dirty afterward. The drain line did not have the proper loop after the connection to the disposal, but that has been corrected for 2 months now. The issue remains. I'm wondering if there is "junk" caught in the drain line that is continually backing into the dishwasher. ??? Should I replace the drain extension line If so, what is that part number? Or could it be something else?

Sharon, It would be recommended to pull the filter out and try to flush it out and make sure that there is nothing caught down in the pump assembly that could cause this issue.

Sharon, You may want to consider the 3385556 / 3385556 Drain hose. It's 12 ft. long and should eliminate the need of a drain hose extension, this will reduce the possibility of a restriction in the drain line. Make sure thee aren't any kinks, twists or overly sharp turns in the drain line hose. Before you connect the drain line to the sink drain system, check and clear any debris from the filter system. start the dishwasher and allow it to fill and wash for a minute or so, then drain the dishwasher, into a large bucket or trash can, repeat at least once more, This should clear any debris from the pump and hoses.

Bob for Model Number Kenmore Elite Dishwasher Model No. 13963K012

Kenmore Elite Dishwasher Model No. 13963K012 S/N F12107738 Bob Issue – Strong Residual Odor Within Washer & Within Glasses After Washing We have had the issue for months if not a few years. I have tried numerous washing detergents/cleaners, vinegar, sanitize cycle repeatedly, etc. I notice what looks like mold in the discharge/drain hose and want to replace it. Questions: 1. Is the check valve pat of the standard hose assembly or a separate part, if the latter, might you have order info? 2. Is there another hose, attached to the washer that I should replace? 3. The unit is hooked up to the garbage disposal. Could there be a related issue here I should address? 4. Might you have a DIY video for this or very similar unit? 5. I want to fix this issue once and for all. ANY issues I should examine, parts I should replace while I have it apart ? I followed your DIY video on a door seal for a Samsung clothes washer-great, part fit perfect. Any direction would be much appreciated !!! Bob robertanovak@comcast.net

Bob, It is possible that there is some build up in the drain of the unit that is causing the odor. You can try a product called glisten dishwasher cleaner to see if it will help with the odor. If not and nothing is in the drain then would suggest to replace the drain hose. Cleaner part number W10549845.

Ron, The correct part number for an ADB1000AWW5 drain hose is WP3374077 / WP3374077 . It is six(6) feet long and has black rubber connectors on the ends of the corrugated white plastic hose( the rubber 90 dgr. elbow attaches to the pump outlet, the "straight rubber connector attaches to the disposal or air gap at the sink. The part is in stock and available at this time. Thanks,

The Hose Drain sent is close but not exactly what we need. The length and fittings are correct. However, there are 3 segments of the original hose that fit into brackets. The hose drain you sent has only one segment. This is not going to work as the hose must be in all the brackets to fit flush. Do you have a similar Hose Drain we can exchange for the one you sent. The order # is 6574240 the part # is WPW10358302. Please help as soon as possible we can't turn the water back on until we get this resolved.

1 Answer

Mark, Unfortunately we do not have a different hose that would work as this part is the manufacturers recommended replacement part for this unit.
