John October 04, 2014 for Model Number PAV2200AWW I want to extend the discharge hose from the Maytag top load washer about 40 ft. The guy at Home depot told me it was just like a garden hose, I knew that wasn't right. Where can I get the hose with the right hookup?
1 Answer Hello John, Because of the limitations of the abilities of the machine to pump out, it is not advised to extend the drain this long. This will cause siphoning and will not produce a satisfactory wash result. The drain would actually need to be put into a drain line the size used in the average home, (4 to 6 inches in diameter), with a proper air gap in order to work correctly. Read More...
Darryl K. August 20, 2013 for Model Number LAT8035AAE The siphon breaker on the discharge hose (located at the top of the cabinet) is leaking. I can't find this part on the diagram. What is the part number that I need?
Dean January 06, 2013 for Model Number A512 Maytag washer I have a Maytag A512 washer that is about 21 years old. I am replacing both the hoses that go to the washer drain pump. The longer hose to the siphon break on my washer appears to have a plastic or metal band that attaches the hose to the siphon break instead of a adjustable camp shown on the Illustrated parts list. Can I just cut that band off and use the clamp to attach the new hose without having to replace the entire siphon break?
1 Answer Hello Dean, Yes you can cut the band and put a screw down clamp. Just be sure to make sure that you do not overtighten. Read More...
Mike July 09, 2012 for Model Number Maytag LAT8740AAW I have a small amount of water leaking from end of the drain hose where it connects to the drain pump. Water drips only during a water change and it drips more at the beginning of the cycle (when the tub has more in it). It would make sense to replace the drain hose but could there be an issue with the drain pump itself? Water only drips from the bottom of the drain hose near the clamp. Thanks for the guidance.
1 Answer Hello Mike. If the drain hose is cracked and leaking, you will need to replace the drain hose WP22001448 on the unit. Remove it from the pump assembly and inspect it for cracks and see if it is leaking. If so, replace it. Read More...

Yoyo July 26, 2011 for Model Number lat5005aae Water seems to be leaking at top of hose connected to drain solenoid. Is this a part or just a junction to outside drain?
1 Answer YOYO, I believe you have a cracked or loose "tub to pump hose" WPY212989. It is a separate part of the drain system in the washer and a pretty quick easy repair, except for the water spillage. You don't have a "drain solenoid" but, you do have a belt driven drain pump with a hose going out the back of the washer to the drain standpipe. Replace the hose and you should be fine. Thanks and Good Luck. Read More...
