The Icemaker is an OEM part for Whirlpool refrigerators. This component is responsible for producing ice by automatically filling with water, freezing it, and then ejecting the ice cubes into the storage bin. Please note that for installation, you will need to reuse the original cover and bracket from your existing icemaker. Makes 5 cubes at a time.

Causes of a bad icemaker can include mechanical failures, clogged water lines, or electrical issues. Over time, wear and tear from constant use or exposure to hard water and impurities can also affect its performance.

Symptoms of a bad icemaker include:

  • The icemaker not producing ice
  • Ice cubes being smaller than usual or misshapen
  • Leaking water inside the freezer
  • Unusual noises during the ice-making process
  • The ice bin not filling up

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Hello Don. It sounds like the water valve is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit.

Jerry, There is not a neutral switch for the unit. If there is 120 vac from neutral to ground then this would mean there is a shorted wire. If this is happening in the door then the door would have to be replaced. If this is at the connector at the bottom of the refrigerator then you would want to check the control board that is located at the back of the unit to make sure that there is not 120 vac ground to neutral coming off the board. If there is then replace the board.

Don, No, the ice maker doesn't need "several cycles for it to work properly" . A poor or no fill situation is usually due to a water supply problem ( low or no water flow/pressure) or a clogged or failed water fill valve. You'll need to check and flush the water supply line and check or replace the water inlet valve.

Sandy, With the unit having a emitter board in it the jumper between T and H may not work properly. You will want to check the light on the emitter board. When you open the freezer door the light should be flashing on the right wall. If the light is not flashing then push in on the flapper on the left door and hold the light switch to see if the light is flashing. If it is not then the emitter board is bad. If it is then the unit is in a harvest mode and if the fingers are not turning then the issue would be the motor on the unit. If the light is flashing when you open the door then press the flapper and see if the light glows solid, if solid then the issue would be in the icemaker. If the light continues to flash then the issue would be in the emitter board.

Ted E for Model Number GS2SHAXMS00

Under this icemaker (p/n AP4360427), you gave the following answer to this question: ------------------------------------- If my ice maker is forming icicles at the bottom (and leaking water everywhere), will I need a new ice maker unit or new water inlet valve - which I understand is on the bottom of the fridge? I have read several conflicting answers online, so I want to make sure I am repairing the right part? A.j. Answer Hello AJ. If the icemaker is over filling, replace the water valve. If it is just leaking, replace the icemaker. -------------------------------------- My question is: How do I know the difference between leaking and overflowing? Is there a test? I never see the flow (or even wet water), only the substantial icicles. Over a few days, it fills up a cereal bowl under my icemaker. My ice cubes do not seem smaller than normal. We have very hard, but softened, water, so we get a lot of buildup on faucets, etc. So, my theory is that the switch has failed mechanically, and probably doesn’t always close completely.

Hello Ted. You remove the lines from the water valve and look for the valve leaking. If you see no leaks, it is the icemaker.
