Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Electronic Control Board (Part Number: OEM18029115)

1 Answer

Hello Mike, This will be a stuck relay on the new board WP5701M403-60. I'm sorry but this part has been discontinued by the manufacturer and no satisfactory substitutions have been provided. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Hello Teresa, You will need to look at how the old board was wired and wire the new board up according to the old board contacts.

Hello Margot, If you carefully use a knife to separate the existing overlay in such a way that the overlay does not crease, (use the knife blade longways to separate while pulling at a shallow angle). This will allow you to install the used overlay flat and it will be cosmetically satisfactory.

I have an electric double oven. The lower bake element just stopped. The Lower oven broiler works just fine, and the upper oven works just fine. The oven will only reach 200 degrees and that takes some time. I have replaced the element still nothing...replaced the temperature probe in the lower oven no change....any other suggestions to verify that its the control board? As its a pricey part I just want to try an rule everything out I can. Thanks Dave

Dave, The bake element for the unit only has just a couple of things that can happen for it to not work. You have already done 2 of those by replacing the sensor and the bake element. You will want to check the wiring between the bake element and the control board and if the wiring checks ok then the control board would be the issue. This would indicate that the relay on the board is stuck open.

Dan, The most likely cause of the unit top oven lower element not working with a new element is a faulty control board. The relay for the upper oven is not making and allowing the unit to operate.

I have 120 vac to the lower element on the top oven (the same with all the elements and testing 1 poll at a time and grounding the other probe) when they functions are off. When I set to turn that element on I test between the 2 polls on the element I should get 240 like I get on the top element but I get nothing 0 volts. I checked line voltage and it is normal 240??? the treminal block looks good as does the receptacle. I do not know how old this stove is it was here when we moved in 5 years ago. the ser # is16554978cn.

DP, You will want to access the control board and check to make sure that if you check the bake to neutral circuit with the unit set to bake that there is 120 vac. Disconnect the wire when you do this and check where you took the wire off. This way to do not get bleed through from L2. If there is not 120 vac then the control is faulty and would need to replace the control board.
