Chris August 10, 2012 for Model Number MSD2456GEQ What is the difference between the (2) relay/overload kits: 12002784 and 12002794? Is the latter a replacement or is either fine to use?
1 Answer Hello Chris! You will need to use the relay/overload kit that is tied to your series. We will need your appliance serial number to verify the correct kit used on your unit. Please obtain this information and repost for further assistance. Thanks! Read More...
Mike July 15, 2012 for Model Number MZD2766GEQ Hi, I have a Maytag side by side, 10yrs old, and the freezer side is working good but the refrigerator side is warm. I raised the temperature but there was no change. Is this some kind of relay problem? Hope you can help. Thanks!
1 Answer Hello Mike, You need to check the rear wall of the freezer for a frost build-up. This sounds like you have a defrost issue and the frost is blocking the air circulation. The most common cause of a defrost failure in this model is the adaptive defrost control 61005988. Replacing it is only half the job though because, if there is a frost issue, correcting the problem will not clear the frost that has accumulated. This frost accumulation will have to be melted out by removing the rear freezer wall and melting the frost and ice away with a hair dryer. There is also a possibility that the defrost thermostat is the issue, but when you open the freezer wall and the thermostat is cold, it should read zero resistance, (continuity). If it is open when it's cold. it is the cause of the failure. As I said though, the adaptive defrost control is normally the failure on this design. Read More...
Tonna November 09, 2011 for Model Number MZD2766GE My freezer and fridge quit cooling. After replacing the the defrost control board, the defrost heater assembly and the run capacitor it is still not cooling. What I am hearing now is the start relay kicking in a buzzing for about 4 to 5 seconds and then it kicking out. Is the start relay bad? If so which one do I need I cannot find a series number on the refrigerator.

Patrick May 21, 2011 for Model Number MZD2766GEB Maytag Fridge was stored for about 3.5 years and redeployed. After about 2 weeks, food in freezer thawed and temp in both fridge and freezer were "cool" at best. At APP.com's suggestion, I purchased and replaced "Kit Overload Relay" AP4009660 but nothing changed ... both fridge and freezer still just cool. I removed the inner back panel on the freezer and found a big formation of ice. Defrosted it with a hair dryer and plugged back in. The tube began to frost up almost immediately. Any suggestions?
1 Answer Hello Patrick. The first things you will want to check are the heater and thermostat WP61006199. These can be checked using a multimeter MA-DM1. They should read closed when the unit is cold. I will include a link on how to use a multimeter in this message. If these parts test fine, chances are it could be the defrost control board 61005988. I hope this info helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Wes March 20, 2011 for Model Number jcd2389ges What should the load be when the compressor starts? Mine is at 13 amps then the relay will kick off after 6-7 seconds. Is that normal for the compressor, or is it a bad relay?
