Hello Mike, You need to check the rear wall of the freezer for a frost build-up. This sounds like you have a defrost issue and the frost is blocking the air circulation. The most common cause of a defrost failure in this model is the adaptive defrost control 61005988. Replacing it is only half the job though because, if there is a frost issue, correcting the problem will not clear the frost that has accumulated. This frost accumulation will have to be melted out by removing the rear freezer wall and melting the frost and ice away with a hair dryer. There is also a possibility that the defrost thermostat is the issue, but when you open the freezer wall and the thermostat is cold, it should read zero resistance, (continuity). If it is open when it's cold. it is the cause of the failure. As I said though, the adaptive defrost control is normally the failure on this design.

Patrick for Model Number MZD2766GEB

Maytag Fridge was stored for about 3.5 years and redeployed. After about 2 weeks, food in freezer thawed and temp in both fridge and freezer were "cool" at best. At APP.com's suggestion, I purchased and replaced "Kit Overload Relay" AP4009660 but nothing changed ... both fridge and freezer still just cool. I removed the inner back panel on the freezer and found a big formation of ice. Defrosted it with a hair dryer and plugged back in. The tube began to frost up almost immediately. Any suggestions?

Hello Patrick. The first things you will want to check are the heater and thermostat WP61006199. These can be checked using a multimeter MA-DM1. They should read closed when the unit is cold. I will include a link on how to use a multimeter in this message. If these parts test fine, chances are it could be the defrost control board 61005988. I hope this info helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
