  • Controls water from the household supply to the ice maker and/or water dispenser on demand
  • Opens when energized and closes to seal off flow when inactive
  • Common symptoms include no ice production, no or slow water dispensing, dripping at the fill area, leaks near the valve, or unusual buzzing/clicking from the valve
  • Helps maintain consistent, reliable filling performance
What's included: 1 water inlet valve Install notes:
  • Unplug the refrigerator and shut off the water supply before servicing
  • Place a towel or container to catch residual water and relieve line pressure

For Whirlpool Water Inlet Valve Kit (Refrigerator) (Part Number: OEM12028674)

Hi Brian. Understand that you replaced the water valve part # 12002193. It will normally take 1-gallon of water flushed through the water filter part # EDR4RXD1. It needs replaced every 6-mos.(750 gallons) of use. Activate the water valve for no longer then 6-seconds and let it rest for a few so that the new coils on the water valve will not overheat. If then after the air is completely flushed from the filter, tubing and water tank, and it still drips then this indicates a clogged water filter. Thank You.

Hello Paul. Yes, you will press in on the plastic fittings on the valve 12002193 and as you press the fittings in, you will pull the plastic lines out of the water valve. These are not hard to remove and replace. Hope this helps.

M. J. for Model Number ARS 9269B I think

After chaning water filter I cleared the line. Worked normally, water emerged, then a bit of air then water again with a little blow out. I thought all was well. Then, withut prompting water started gushing out of water dispenser. Shut off water. Then panel seemd to indicate a power outage and it came back on while fridge was on. It did that one more time then panel seemd fine as is now. I unplugged fridge and made inspections. Dispensoer switch seems fine as it illuminates light when deressed so it must close. Then pwered back up with water hit dpesner and the water no longer flowed from dispensoer. I sipectec conenction at main inlet valve and secondary valve. All seemd fine. Disconenected water supply and copnfirm sufficent pressure to inlet valve. I then enpited ice tray andbeleove heard water enter tray. But stillnothing form dispensoer. That seems to conclude its the secondary valve assembly correct? My questions, is ther another possible problem. I suspect it could be a short fromt eh switch to the valve. I can try to check that with a voltage meter. But my suspciioj it is likley the seconaday valve. Secondly, if it is the secondary valve, it is a good idea to go ahead and replace the inlvet valve. the fridge is 10 years old. BTW I love your forum and purchased a system board from this outlet for the same fridge a few years back.Thank you.

Hi M.J. First of all we thank you kindly about the comment of our web site. We are a growing company that strives continuously to keep on the "edge" to be able to assist the customers. Thank You. From all gathered @ what you have done , all is still leading to a weak coil or mechanical hold internally in the valve. All valves nowadays are made out of a plastic body. Unless you have a kinked water line as the fridge is pushed into place, I suspect the valve being defective after a few good seconds, then fail to keep energized as the coils are electrically opening. So the body at the metal /plastic areas will spring a very tiny leak and spray out and you wont even know it is defective. So it is a very good defense especially being 10 yrs old. It is part # 12002193. Thank You.

Patrick, OK, You swapped the wires at the fill valve, when you pressed the water dispenser paddle, the water enterred the ice maker, correct ? Now what you need to do is get a 3 or 4 inch length of 14 guage wire, remove 1/2 in of insulation from both ends of the wire. Remove the white plastic cover on the front of the icemaker. You'll find labelled openings on the body of the mechanism(L,N,V,T,H, etc) Insert one end of the wire into the T opening and the other end into the H opening, hold the wire by the insulation until the main gear starts to rotate/move, then remove the wire. When the rake arm reaches the 1 or 2 o'clock position, the water dispenser should dispense water for a few seconds(7 to 10 seconds or 4 to 4.5 oz. of water. If it does, you have a faulty primary fill valve. If it doesn't you have a faulty fill contact in the control module of the icemaker or a broken wire between the icemaker and fill valve(not repairable). Good Luck and Thanks

Patrick, You could test the circuits and valve, using that method. But you don't want to leave it that way or operate the machine that way. Thanks and Good Luck

Hi Patrick. What exactly is the issue? Are you not getting ice? If this is the issue, make sure the fill tube is not frozen full. If a water valve is bad and constantly allow the water to trickle, it will freeze and back fill the tube. Take note how the fill tube rest into the back of the ice maker. You can remove it by disconnecting the 1/4" water line at the back. Slightly twist sideways and pull the fill tube out. Rinse it out under sink warm water and completely dry it with a hair dryer. If it is damaged, replace it with part # WP67003576. Is the ice maker ejector arms blocked by a stuck ice cube and it wont allow it to re cycle and harvest? Remove the front cover to the ice maker. You can use an insulated wire and jump between "T" and "H" momentarily to get the gear to start to rotate. Remove the jumper wire within 30 -45 seconds. This will jump start a harvest mode. If it will not, then the ice maker is part # D7824706Q. Thank You.

Hello, if you are referring to the mounting brackets that are part of the ice mold. Then yes, the replacement icemaker will come with the brackets. You might also be able to purchase the mold itself, but you will have to use a model number to locate the parts breakdown. Thanks!

Hello Jesus. This part most likely does not come with instructions. However, this part is quite easy to install. You would need no additional fittings. To use with the old tubing, you should simply need to snip off the threaded nuts and snap the bare tubing into the new valve. I hope this info helps.
