For Whirlpool Water Inlet Valve Kit (Refrigerator) (Part Number: OEM12028674)

Shawn, the water valve at the back of your model is going to be part number [WP12544002] for the valve that sets toward the edge of the back and the valve [12002193] would be the one that sets behind the first valve.

Lisa Jo for Model Number PSD243LGRW

The flow from the water dispenser has become very slow and takes a whole minute to dispense 8 oz. There are no noticeable problems with the ice maker, and the water dispenser is just as slow with the filter bypass installed. We unplugged the water tube from the secondary water valve, and the water flows slow though the value when the dispenser paddle is pressed. We now assume it's a water valve issue, but we did not check the flow out of the primary water valve. Is there a chance the primary water valve could be the problem? I am hoping to not have to take the back of the fridge apart again. :)

1 Answer

Lisa jo, I believe when the water leaves the valve it goes directly into the filter first then onto the dispenser or ice maker. If you can disconnect the water line before it goes into anything and actuate the paddle you will know for sure it is the water valve and not the water filter housing or reservoir frozen or anything of that nature.

Bill, If the icemaker continues to have water run into it and filling the ice bin then this water valve would correct this issue.

Hello Tim. If the only thing that broke was the union, then you will just need to replace that part.

Inthewind7097 for Model Number Amana ARS266ZBW

The icemaker fill tube keeps freezing up on my Amana ARS266ZBW. I have assured good water pressure, replaced filters, cleaned coils, adjusted temperatures, added insulation and more. I suspect a slow leakage of water into the fill tube may be causing this since I seem to feel small ice build up in the tube over time. Please advise of possible causes. If you suspect a leaky water valve, which one is the likely cause (Primary or secondary)?

1 Answer

Hello Inthewind7097. Yes, it sounds like you need to replace the water valve on the unit. You will need to replace the secondary valve 12002193.

Tim T. for Model Number ARS2464BW

I have an Amana ARS2464BW fridge. When the ice cube tray is being filled with water, the water dispenser at the front of the fridge drips a significant amount of water, so much so that we always have to keep a large cup under the water dispenser to catch the water instead of the tray overflowing. I have recently replaced the filter, entire ice cube maker assembly (moreso because it was getting old and rusty) as well as the primary valve with Amana Kenmore Water Valve part number 12544002. I've also purged it multiple times. The ice cube maker functions well and the water pressure when we use the water dispenser seems fine too. However, the dispenser still drips when the ice cube tray is being filled. Is my next best step to replace the secondary valve with what I think is part number 12002193 or is there something else I should look at?

1 Answer

Tim, The secondary valve would be the part to replace. This is a dual valve and would only allow water to pass by the dispenser valve when it calls for water from the dispenser or the icemaker if the dispenser side is not fully closing.

Hello Patrick. You do not need any springs in the tube for the compression fittings on the new valve.

Joe, You will want to check at the water valve, when the icemaker calls for water to see if there is 120 vac getting to the valve. If there is then the water valve would be the issue. If there is not then the issue will be with the icemaker.

Doug, The first thing to check with the unit not getting full cubes and no water at the dispenser would be the water filter to make sure that the filter is good. If the filter has not been replaced within last 6 months then you will want to replace the filter. If the problem persists then look for a frozen water tank.
