Shari July 24, 2011 for Model Number MDB4651AWB The tabs/slash clips on the door panel are broken, making it hard to open the door. Looking at your drawings, they confuse me as to exactly what part I have to have to be able to open and close the door by the handle. Do I have to order a new control panel as well as the handle and latch to work properly?
1 Answer Hi Shari. Is the clips that are broken on the inside of your door panel holding the latch assembly in? If so then you will need Control panel part # 6-919806. The latch assembly is part # WPW10130695. Thank you. Read More...
Gary July 23, 2011 for Model Number WHIRLPOOL Dishwasher Door Latch Assembly (Part Number: AP4264081) I have replaced the door latch assembly. However, when I open the door while the unit is running, it does not stop (as it did before). Have I missed a step or did I get the wrong part?
1 Answer Hello Gary. You will need to check and see if the latch switches are sticking. If so, you will need to order another door latch WPW10130695. Also, make sure the wires are connected good to the latch assembly, and the strike is not broke. Hope this helps. Read More...

Tony July 09, 2011 for Model Number mdb7601aww I cannot close the door of this dishwasher. I checked the switches and they are OK. I have the latch out and can't tell if the latch is defective . Is there a detailed picture of the latch showing the view through the latch hole? Could it be anything else? Many thanks
1 Answer Tony, here's a picture, the best we have right now, WPW10275768. Once you have the latch assembly dismounted from the door and control panel, you can press it onto the door strike, and watch the mechanism work. The latching mechanism "rolls" from front to back and vise versa when you latch and unlatch the door handle and pull on the door. Did you check the door strike in the center of the opening for damage ? Thanks and Good Luck. Read More...
Jeff June 28, 2011 for Model Number MDB3000AWX We would close the door on the diswsher and it would wash. However, we had to prop a board up against the door because the slightest movement would cause the dishwasher to stop. That worked for about 2 weeks. Now we prop the door, it washes but stops at the rinse cycle. The propped board doesn't help any more. What all do I need to replace? Latch assembly? Is this all??
1 Answer Hello Jeff. Based on the information you provided, it does sound like the latch assembly WPW10130695 is bad and will need to be replaced. If the door strike 903098 is good, then the latch assembly should fix the problem. Hope this helps. Read More...
Rob June 12, 2011 for Model Number mdbh940aws Was there ever a recall for these parts? Lots of people have had this same problem. The plastic tabs on the control panel are weak and get weaker from the moisture and heat. At least they upgraded the handle, but it sucks we have to pay for their poor design. I can't find my warranty paperwork, is any of this under warranty up to 6 or 7 years? Thanks.
1 Answer Hello Rob! Unfortunately, we do not have recall information available. Here is the owners manual link to verify the warranty that came with your unit. Thanks! http://www.kitchenaid.ca/assets/pdfs/literature/6_919204_A.PDF Read More...

Gill June 03, 2011 for Model Number MDB8600AWW We are attempting upon your guidance to unplugg the latch assembly from the plug, however we still are unable to disconnect the plug as it will not unplugg. We feel using a set of pliers on either side of the plug may cause the latch assembly plug to crack. We need more guidance and direction!!! It almost appears that this assembly will not unplugg and was not designed to do so without releashing it in some manner.
