The door latch assembly can fail due to various reasons, such as repeated use, accidental impact, or wear and tear of the latch components over time. Electrical issues or misalignment can also contribute to malfunction.

Symptoms of a bad door latch assembly include:

  • The dishwasher door not staying closed
  • The dishwasher not starting or stopping mid-cycle
  • Water leaking from the door during operation
  • Difficulty latching or unlatching the door

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Hi Emily. Yes , it is fairly easy. Remove power. Remove the inner door panel. Remove the control assy. bolts. The door latch assy. is bolted to the inside of the control panel. Latch part # is W10862259. Remove, unhook the switch wires noting each wire for proper hook up. Inspect the cont. panel latch mount bosses to see if they are broken. If so you will need to send us exact model # so we can assist with this part # also. This is a good indication that you need to remove the lower kick panel and use a flashlight to see if all 4- legs are down snug as the unit is level front to back, and side to side. This is a main cause why the latches break,(improper installation). Thank you.
