Hi Bob. Remove the bottom kick plate. Use a flashlight and make sure all 4-legs are firmly adjusted to the ground. Then remove the lower rack and use a torpedo level side to side and front to back adjusting the level legs so when the tub remains level when the full load is hot in heated dry. This way the tub does not sag and the latch assy. does not break. Part # W10862259. This is a very probable cause of a common failure from installation issues. Thank You.

Jamie B. for Model Number MDB4651AWS1

After talking to James, I ordered the latch assembly for this dishwasher. According to your website (and James), part #AP4264559 was a new replacement part number. After instsalling the latch assembly, the dishwasher will not click completly and therefore will not operate. After taking the switch out again and comparing the original and the replacement, I can see that the handle is much ticker than the original, and therefore will not allow the handle to protrude through the hole in the control panel when you close the door. Is there a newer part number out there, because this one is not an adequate replacement?

Hello Jamie. This is the correct latch W10862259 for the unit. You will want to make sure the latch, when installed, is snapped into the plastic clips inside the control panel, and the unit is aligned up properly on the door. If not, you will have the issues you are having. Based on the model number, this is the manufacture replacement latch for the unit.

Hello Teresa. You will need to use a pair of needle nose pliers and pull the connectors off the latch assembly W10862259. These can be tight, but if you pull the plastic connect, it should not break on the unit. Make sure the power is disconnected before doing the repair. Hope this helps.
