Symptoms of a bad door latch assembly include:

  • The dishwasher door not staying closed
  • The dishwasher not starting or stopping mid-cycle
  • Water leaking from the door during operation
  • Difficulty latching or unlatching the door

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

For Whirlpool Door Latch Assembly (Part Number: OEM17998815)

Ronzo for Model Number Amana (whirpool) ADB1500AWW

I have removed the broken door latch handle, and it has a number on it 6 916777. I find a similar number but it is a 902777. Is this compatible for my dishwasher. Two numbers appear on the data plate. ADB1500AWWW and 10296827GG. My handle is white, and the wires that connect to it have the electrical copper connectors on them. My switch/handle is only plastic no electrical parts on it. Those connectors are already on the black and white wires. Ok, thats the best I can do. Help.

Ronzo, The part number for the door handle on your unit would be WPW10130695. Unfortunately it appears that the white has been discontinued by the manufacturer and they are substituting the black handle.

Hello Rob, You can use a small screwdriver to pry them off or a pair of needle nosed pliers. Either way will provide enough leverage to remove the wires from the switches.
