The Lip Seal Kit is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool washing machines. It contains new seals that surround the tub opening and help prevent water leaks. This lip seal kit includes the revised lip seal, grease, O-ring, seal tool, washer kit, and instructions. The rear bearings are sold separately. Their part numbers are WP22003441 and WP22002934.

Symptoms of failed lip seals include:

  • Water leaks from around the washer opening or tub area
  • Puddles or standing water underneath after a cycle
  • Visible cracks or splits in existing seals

Causes may involve standard wear from machine operation, rubbing against the tub surface. Mineral buildup can also shorten seal lifespan if not periodically cleaned.

This OEM Whirlpool part fits models by Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and select Kenmore washing machines.

Estelle, An average DIY'r should be able to replace the lip seal kit 12002022 , You do ahve to be cautious when you re install the spin basket, so you don't nick the new seal. There aren't any special tools needed, and niether, the tub cover seal, or "boot" does not need top be repalced, unless damaged during the repair. Thanks

JD, Yes the tub bearings are two different sizes, WP22002934 and WP22003441. AP4027296 is the larger of the set and is installed in the front section of the tub assembly( closest to the lip seal). The AP4027027 is the smaller and is mounted in the rear,(closest to the drive pulley). Remember to use "molykote" grease on the shaft and bearing (back sides) and plenty in the gap between the bearings. Thanks and Good Luck

Hi T. The rear tub assembly part # is 22004465. It comes with the lip seal. You will need the rear inner tub spinner support assembly. this part # is W10181639. Tub cover seal is part # WP22002077. All of these are needed to mate together for proper tub alignment and operations. There are 2- bearings in the outer tub that cannot be pressed in. Thank you.

Hello Dado. It sounds like the bearings are not seated properly. These are pressed in from the factory. You will need to make sure the bearings seat all the way down. They are very tight to install. You may need to use a rubber mallet to seat them properly, but be careful not to damage the tub assembly. Hope this helps.
