For Whirlpool Refrigerator Condenser Fan Motor (Part Number: OEM21588462)

Graham for Model Number MFC2061HES

I have a Maytag french door fridge with a bottom freezer. A while ago I noticed that the ice in the ice-make bin was clumping - obviously there was some thawing and re-freezing. I put a plastic tub underneath and that allowed some ice to stay un-clumped if I replaced the tub every week. However, now the fridge nor freezer will not stay cold - it is as if it is going into defrost cycle permanently. To the point that the fridge was getting warm. The vertical door guide was almost hot. There is air blowing beneath the fridge - but not warm air. I replaced the defrost thermostat (AP6010356) to no avail. Any suggestions on what to look at next?

Graham, The most likely cause for this issue will be that the control board is causing the unit to stick in defrost and would be part number WPW10207861.

Gabriel, I don't know what kind of refrigerator you have but, air is typically drawn in and blows toward the condenser coils and drain pan, this process is what evaporates the water that goes into your drain pan. When the rear compartment cover is installed, you should feel the warm air blowing on your feet.

Richard, You don't want to do that. You want to use the factory recommended/factory direct replacement part(s) W10822259 / W10822259 Motor, Condenser Fan Kit. That way you insure the proper operation of the refrigerator and longevity of the machine. The fan motor kit comes with written instructions, wiring information and all the parts needed to install the parts, There is also a "how to" video attached to the parts order/information screen.

Hi. I noticed all the ice in the bucket was a little melted and sticked together and the upper part of the freezer was not cold enough to keep the food frozen. I thought there was something wrong with ice maker and disconnected it. Then I realized the fridge part was not cold at all either. Which part should I replace? I have been replacing couple parts of my fridge in these two months already. Is it time to buy a new one or I can still repair and keep using it? Please advice.

Dave, The easiest way to check the condenser fan, Stand barefoot in front of the refrigerator or run your hand along the front of the bottom grille, if the fan is running and the condenser coils is relatively clean, you should feel the hot air blowing out from behind the grille. If it's been a while, you may just want to clean the condenser coils in the bottom behind the grille and check and clean the condenser fan motor and blade and area inside the compressor compartment in the back of the refrigerator.

Hello, I have a Maytag French door refrigerator that has a burning smell about it. Just started today but is currently still cooling just fine. I've read online that I may have dusty fan coils or possibly a relay trying to burn out or maybe even a compressor. I'd like to try and fix it before a breaks completely. Any help or suggestions on how to go about cleaning it now or anticipating the needed repair or repairing the problem would be appreciated. Thank you. Cullen

Cullen, To clean the condenser coils you can use a coil cleaning brush to clean. The coil brush part number is 4210463RW and can be used to clean the lint filter area of your dryer as well. The coils are located on the bottom of the unit and you have to remove the kickplate to clean them. Just run the brush through each of the coils and move kinda side to side. You will also want to check to see if the start relay on the compressor is what is causing the odor in which case this will most likely be the cause for the issue. The relay would need to be replaced as it is most likely burning out.

Hello Dave, You should verify that the motor has the correct fan blade on it since this art has been crossed. If the blades are not at the same pitch in the same direction as the picture shown on the page showing W10156818, this is the issue.

Hello Steve. Based on the model number you provided, W11613295 is the correct condenser fan motor. The motor has been upgraded, but should work properly with the unit. Hope this helps.
