For Whirlpool Refrigerator Condenser Fan Motor (Part Number: OEM21588462)

1 Answer

Hello Jim, thank you for contacting Appliance Parts Pros. The original fan and fan blade are no longer available from the manufacturer. The fan blade will need to be replaced with part # [W11458267] to fit this motor.

Brian, Yes, this condenser fan motor will be correct for your unit and has just been redesigned. You will need to rotate it to get it in place.

Brian, If the condenser fan is not running while the compressor is and there is not 120 Vac to the fan then the main control board would be the issue.

Brian, the condenser fan W11613295 should be operating at the same time as the compressor. The fan motor can be tested for 120VAC at the time that the compressor is operating. If it is receiving the voltage and the fan is not moving, the fan motor would need to be replaced. If there is not 120VAC, there would be a wiring issue.

Js21 for Model Number WRF555SDFZ

Hi. I have a brand new french-door bottom-freezer fridge, model WRF555SDFZ. The condenser fan runs about 23 hours per day any time the door is closed. Is this normal? I was told that it was normal, but I have never owned a fridge with a noisy fan that runs 20-23 hours per day. The only time the fan ever turns off is when I open the door, or if I set the fridge and freezer temperature to a much higher setting. Then the fan might turn off for 30 minutes, but will always turn back on eventually and stay on. I really HATE this fridge. Is there a different motor I can get that isn't as loud? Why does it run almost continuously? How long will it last if it runs all the time?

1 Answer

JS21, Yes, all the fans in the unit operate for a longer period of time, than the previous versions of refrigerators, but the new units are more efficient and low energy consumption. Based on your description, you may want to move the unit out, remove the compressor compartment cover and check the condenser fan, condenser coil, and the other components in the compartment. The fan motors run more, but they aren't as loud as the previous versions of the fan motors, check the installation as well, the fan could be out of alignment because the unit isn't properly leveled.

Hello Lisa, the manufacturer supplies the fan motor only as a replacement part, the wire harness to it is a separate part, if you will repost your question with the model number we can find the correct wire harness for you.

Mike, if the compressor and condenser fan motor are not receiving 120VAC when the refrigerator should be cooling, the failure would either be with a thermistor or with the main control. With the refrigerator unplugged, the refrigerator thermistor 12002355 and freezer thermistor 12002355 can be tested at the main control using connection J3. With the black probe of the meter staying at pin 5 (white and orange wire), the red probe would be placed at pin 1 for the refrigerator thermistor and pin 2 for the freezer thermistor. At 77°F, the thermistors should read 10KO, at 36°F they should read 29.5KO, and at 0°F they should read 86.3KO. If the resistance does not match the temperature range, then the thermistor in question would need to be replaced. If the resistance is within a 10% range of the temperature, then the main control WPW10310240 has failed and would need to be replaced.

gSF26c5exW02 Ice maker issue. Flap at bottom of chute not closing. Tried to research a little. See a spring that might need to be replaced. Very inexpensive, wondering what part number is for the flap? Is that included with replacement chute? Ice maker makes ice just fine, but then melts, and freezes at the bottom. Can see now that it is turned off that flap is not closing probably leading to melting, refreezing at bottom of chute. Trying to avoid calling for repair. Thought I would order spring and then take apart according to video. Wondering if I should order new flap, can't find that part. Barbara

1 Answer

Barbara, you may want to check to ensure that the door chute motor is operating properly as these motors can fail to close completely and cause the chute door to not fully seat. If it is not allowing the door to close fully, then you would need to replace it. The flap comes with the motor as a kit [WPW10493172].

Graham for Model Number MFC2061HES

I have a Maytag french door fridge with a bottom freezer. A while ago I noticed that the ice in the ice-make bin was clumping - obviously there was some thawing and re-freezing. I put a plastic tub underneath and that allowed some ice to stay un-clumped if I replaced the tub every week. However, now the fridge nor freezer will not stay cold - it is as if it is going into defrost cycle permanently. To the point that the fridge was getting warm. The vertical door guide was almost hot. There is air blowing beneath the fridge - but not warm air. I replaced the defrost thermostat (AP6010356) to no avail. Any suggestions on what to look at next?

Graham, It is possible that part W10613606 start device has failed on your unit and the compressor is not running. Pull the unit out from the wall and check the compressor. You could also listen for a clicking noise every minute or two as an indicator this relay has failed.
