The condenser fan motor is an OEM part for Whirlpool refrigerators. It plays a vital role in circulating refrigerant through the condenser coils, facilitating heat exchange and maintaining the refrigerator's cooling efficiency.

Over time, the motor-condenser can wear out or fail due to electrical issues, mechanical wear, or blockages in the condenser system. A malfunctioning motor can compromise the refrigerator's cooling performance, leading to temperature fluctuations and increased energy consumption.

Symptoms of a bad Motor-Condenser include:

  • The refrigerator not cooling properly
  • Unusual noises coming from the back of the refrigerator
  • The compressor running continuously
  • Increased energy bills due to inefficient operation
  • Overheating of the refrigerator

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

1 Answer

Pete, The condenser fan should run any time the compressor is running so if the compressor is currently off due to defrost then the fan will not run.

Hello Bob. The fan should be drawing the warm air away from the refrigerator. It shows the fan motor should be running clockwise when installed on the unit.

Hello Antoinette, Refrigeration is a complicated thing to diagnose. For this reason we will need a bit more information. The things to check are the fan motors, the compressor, (are they running), and the frost pattern on the cold coils. These things will give an indication as to what is causing the issue with the appliance. It would also help if you could verify the model number on the units' I.D. tag. Thank you for your understanding and patience in this matter.

Greggs for Model Number Whirlpool ET21PKXGW01

I have a whirlpool Refrigerator. A death rattle noise comes from the back. I opened the lower panel. Noise comes from the Compressor area or Condensation fan. With unit off, I wiggled the fan motor...sounded like possible bearings were shot. When I turned the unit on , while this fan was unplugged...then the noise came from the compressor. I still can't determine which unit to replace...but it sure sounds like the unit is going to start taking off and flying around the room (sounds is like a furnace motor running). Any other thought to help diagnose the problem? Thanks

Hello Greg. if the noise is from the compressor, then the springs inside are broken and you will need to replace the compressor on the unit.

John for Model Number ED25QFXHW01

Have a Whirlpool side by side Model #ED25QFXHW01 and when running there is like a vibration noise in the freezer. I have applied a little pressure on the back panel in the freezer and it will stop. Soon as I remove the pressure the noise comes back. Watched you good video on a motor replacement but not sure if that is the problem/vibration. Since our food is in there i will be pressed to do an expedient job. You may have experience with this problem before that is why i am asking the experts. Unit made in 2000 and not sure life it has left? Noise, however is aggravating. in the kitchen. Something is loose or touching/vibrating. Not sure of anything i will need. Thank You.

John, Normally when you get a vibration in the freezer compartment it is due to the bearings on the motor going out and the fan would need to be replaced.

Kevin M for Model Number KSRB25FHWH02

I purchased a condensor motor for this Kitchen Aide refer and when I recieved it the voltage rated on the back plate is rated 220v. The motor I removed is an Emerson Model FA33BMJTT-4220 part #2176336 and is rated at 110v. I contacted your site to see if I could get a motor rated for 110v but the motor your site reccommends is the same part # of the one I got from another vendor. The part # is 4387244 And the number on the new motor is 5KSM81FFL0074. I would appreciate any assistance you can provide. I am concerned that if I install this moror that not being rated the same the unit will not operate for long and would overheat.

1 Answer

Kevin, Part number W10822259 is the manufactures direct replacement part for the original part number. Installing this part per the instructions included will ensure that the motor will work properly and that the unit will cool properly.
