This is a Whirlpool washer drive motor and control board. The drive motor and motor control board are responsible for the spin cycles of the washer. A faulty motor may show signs of malfunction through a slower than average spin cycle. When the control board shorts out, the washer typically will not spin at all.Begin installation by removing the body of the washer. There are two screws at the base of the console. Remove these screws and flip the console back. Two clips are holding the body in place. Remove them with a flat-head screwdriver. Push these clips and pull the body off the washer. Now that the motor is exposed, remove the screws holding the motor in place with a nut driver. Two more clips fasten the motor. Push these clips with the flat head, and the motor is free to remove. Unplug the control board's wire harness from the washer. The new component is ready for install after these steps. The part is sourced directly from the manufacturer as a genuine OEM product. This kit is sold separately from the washer. This product is compatible with Whirlpool, Maytag, and Admiral appliances.

Walter B for Model Number mlga2000ww

Washer fills the I hear groaning and tub won't agitate. then machine turns it self off. I took off belt to verify that tub rotates freely and the bearing was ok. Early on before total failure motor was struggling and i helped it by hand and it did do some agitating and then it just stopped completely. I am really leaning towards that the motor has failed. mainly because of the loud groaning when trying to agitate. Any input before I pull the trigger on the motor. I really dont think it is the control board, thanks

Hello Walter, most likely the motor control board is failing and causing the motor problem. If you would repost your question along with the serial number we can then find the correct part as there are changes the manufacturer made on the drive motor and control board over time.

Jm, You will want to check to make sure that the tub is spinning freely but this issue sounds as though it may be caused by a faulty motor.

Hello T. You will need to check and see if the pump is clogged. If not, then it sounds like the drain pump is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit.

After replacing the motor and motor control board on my Maytag MAH3000AWW I have a strange symptom. When water is filling into the machine it fills forcefully for half a second, then quiets for half a second, repeatedly until full. When filling in the rinse cycle it does the same thing, but is quite forceful and there is noise in the pipes under my kitchen sink! What could be causing this? It seems like it has to be something to do with the work done to the motor and motor control board, or that I touched something while working on it to cause this issue. Any ideas? Thanks.

Melody, Replacing the motor and motor control board, wouldn't affect the water valve or water pressure (fill cycle). The control board and fill valve does "cycle" the cold and hot water solenoids off and on to maintain the target temperature for the water temperature selected. You may want to check and make sure the fill hose screens and the valve screens are clean and clear of debris and sediment. The "noise" in the water pipes under the sink, sounds like it could be water "hammer" due to a change in the water pressure or water flow. Did you have any plumbing work done recently ? It shouldn't be due to anything you did or replaced.

I need to know correct motor control board to order for my model please Serial Number C3249514JC Had a repair man put one on and it didn't fix issue. But I believe he didn't have correct one. I get no spin or aggitate and the control board just humms. Started with a FL code and that lead to nowhere. Motor doesn't spin in motor test and all my switches check out. Repair guy said it was pressure switch but I believe that it should still spin in motor test?

I had the wax motor for the door fail on my washer and it burned out the R-11 resistor on my original control board. I replaced both parts with new pieces. Do you know if the issue with the wax motor failing and burning out the resistor R-11 on the control board was addressed with the new revision boards or will I have the same problem when the wax motor fails in the future? If it wasn't addressed would you recommend changing out the wax motor again after 6 years of service as a preventive measure? My drive motor failed after 15 years of service. I have ordered a new motor kit and drive belt. I would replace the wax motor now as I have the washer apart and have to get parts anyway. It would be cheap insurance verses buying a new board again.

Hello Jerry. There is no fix for that. If the motor fails, it can burn out that resistor.

My Whirlpool Ultimate II washing machine started making an extremely loud noise when trying to enter the spin cycle. I changed the coupler, but that was not the problem. The drum only spins in the clockwise direction when I manually spin it. The drive block does not look new, but it does not look worn either. The clutch appears to be in good shape. I disconnected the water pump, that did not resolve the issue. I'm afraid it may be the motor. Any ideas?

1 Answer

Hello Patrick. Check the clutch and see if it is bad. If it is good, then it sounds like the transmission may be the issue with the unit.
