For Whirlpool Drive Motor (Part Number: OEM15816357)

Empire_Designs for Model Number PYE2300AYW

I have a maytag performa dryer, PYE2300AYW and the motor needs to be replaced. The oem motor is a 53-3728 / S58NXMYN-6899 which spins clockwise looking at the drum pulley side. The drum pulley is left handed threads and the blower shaft side is D shaped. All the research points to the W10410996 / 53-4459 as the replacement, so I bought one, however it spins the wrong direction. The W10410996 drum pulley spins counter-clockwise and the drum pulley is right handed threads. Watching the replacement video posted to your webpage( https://youtu.be/dhGG_iWuvsg?si=k8IQA55cKXJpxZ7F ), it shows the replacement of a 53-3728 with a 53-4459 in the exact configuration and setup as my dryer, with the belt coming down the left side of the drum (when looking from the front of the dryer), under the motor pulley, around the idler, and up the right side of the drum. Running a counter clockwise motor in this configuration pulls against the idler letting the belt slip and spins the blower the wrong direction, sucking air in from the exhaust. Can you provide the correct replacement motor part number for a 53-3728 clockwise spinning motor?

Samdog for Model Number HYG3657AWW

dryer will not start sometimes; starter button works but drum wont quite start turning; motor sounds like it is trying to turn but sometimes wont; in the past i have taken front off, manually turned the blower fins and drum will turn when i do that; belt is ok ; door switch is working ok. nothing i can see obstructing the motor and shaft; my question is, is the motor reaching its endlife? when i have gotten it started it will start numerous times subsequently but after not using for a day or more then it may not; thanks;

Hello Ron. Have you checked the thermal fuse? P/n AP6009642. Should have continuity. Thank you.

Hello Rick, according to the model's schematic it was attached on the old motor at terminal 2, so it on the new motor it is added to terminal 2.Double terminal.

Rafael, for the model provided, the blue wire would need to be removed and the white wire would connect to the 1/4 tab at the thermal protector of the motor (where the blue wire attached behind the terminal block).

John for Model Number JDE2000W

Hi! I'm trying to fix a new motor (W10410996) in my Jenn Air Ultra 22. The Jenn Air has the old individual wires. The new motor has a chart and pictures for how to re-route the wires to the new style terminals. I've fitted the three new 1/8" connectors as instructed, and I see where four of the wires go (old 1, 2, 4 and 7). Then it says the red wire from old terminal 3 should go to new (1/4") terminal 2, BUT old terminal three, (bottom right looking from front of dryer) actually has two separate terminal tags, an inboard (closer to motor frame) one with a red (or orange) wire going to the sensor on the front of the blower housing (which has four wires total) and an outer one with thicker red wire going up to the controls or heater. Please, which one of these two red wires should go to new terminal #2, and (crucially) where should the other one go? It isn't even acknowledged to exist in the instructions! New terminal 2 does not have two in line terminal blades like old terminal 3. Also I took a white earth wire off the old motor frame (low down on left), but the new one has no hole for that mounting screw and wire. Please, should it be earthed and if so, how? The installation instruction sheet that I received with the new motor really needs to be rewritten to explain what to do with all the wires! I was relying on it, and promised the dryer would be working again today. I think it will only take me an hour to fit the new motor and get things all back together, if I only know what to do with the extra wires. Our house is a huge mess, and my wife is quite distraught. I hope you can help quickly! Many thanks.

John, the two red wires at the old terminal 3 use the same terminal and would need to be terminaled together. In regard to the ground wire, there is a brass ground plate on the front of the terminal block that the ground wire can be secured to.

Coyote, The neutral will go to terminal 1 and the number 7 terminal would be the L1 of the motor.

Hello John, we need some more info to try to determine the cause. You did not mention why the original motor was replaced. If the problem was with the old motor the new motor would not have a problem. You say the new motor went out after 2 min, did the motor stop and not be able to restart immediately and did restart a while later. The motor has an internal hi-limit thermostat that would open under hi heat and once cooled reset. If that is the problem check the incoming power, 120v, at the motor terminals orange to white. Also check if the drum is hard to turn due to worn rollers, idler pulley, blower wheel problem.

Alberto, the white wire that is on terminal 1 of the original motor will go to terminal 4 on the new one where the blue jumper wire is. The blue jumper wire will need to be removed. From there, the purple wire on terminal 2 will go to terminal 5 on the new motor. Then the red wire on terminal 3 will go to terminal 2 on the new motor. The next red wire that is on terminal 4 will go to terminal 1 on the new motor. The last wire will be an orange wire on terminal 7 and will go to terminal 6 on the new motor.
