The Evaporator Fan Motor Kit is an OEM part for Whirlpool refrigerators. This kit includes the evaporator fan motor and necessary mounting components to ensure proper installation and function. The evaporator fan motor is responsible for circulating air over the evaporator coils and throughout the refrigerator and freezer compartments, ensuring uniform cooling and efficient operation.

You should replace the evaporator fan motor kit if the motor becomes faulty. Causes of a bad evaporator fan motor can include electrical issues, wear and tear from regular use, or mechanical failure. A malfunctioning motor can lead to uneven cooling, increased energy consumption, or the refrigerator not maintaining the proper temperature.

Symptoms of a bad evaporator fan motor include:

  • The refrigerator or freezer not cooling properly
  • Unusual noises such as squealing, humming, or grinding coming from the motor area
  • The fan not spinning or spinning inconsistently
  • Increased frost buildup in the freezer

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and some Kenmore models.

Ray for Model Number MFF2557HEW

My freezer is working with coil and back wall iced, fridg is room temp. Unplug and let thaw; remove all ice and remove rear panel. Defrost heater has continuity. When I plugged in the power cord the first time, I noticed that the freezer motor is turning very slowly and eventually comes up to speed. Unplug power cord and let set for several hours. Plug power cord in and freezer fan appears to start normal. Do you think the fan motor needs to be replaced? Will a bad fan cause the coil to freeze over? Thanks

1 Answer

Hello Ray. Yes, if the fan motor is bad, it can cause the coil to freeze over. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the motor 12002744 will need to be replaced. Hope this helps.

Nelson for Model Number 59675503400

We had power failure last week during the storm. When the power came back on the evaporator fan wasn't running, checked the motor ,it is fried. Checked the quick disconnect plug, only about 50-60 volt to the evaporator fan motor. Since this refrigerator doesn't have a defrost timer, and all the control is in the electronic Control Module, is it sound like the Control module is bad also. The compressor is running fine and the freezer will get cold. Thank you for your help! Nelson

Hello Nelson. If your only getting 50-60 volts, then it sounds like the board may be bad. Test at the board, and see if it is sending only 50 to 60 volts. This is a 115 volt fan motor. If the board is bad, you will need to change both parts. Hope this helps.
