The Circulation Pump is an OEM part for Whirlpool dishwashers. This component drives the water flow throughout the dishwasher, ensuring efficient cleaning performance. It helps to distribute the water evenly, reaching every corner of the dishwasher, and effectively removing food particles and stains.

Causes of a faulty circulation pump can include wear and tear over time, blockage due to debris or foreign objects, or electrical component failure. These factors can result in reduced water pressure, inadequate cleaning, or the dishwasher not operating at all.

Symptoms of a bad circulation pump may include:

  • Weak or no water spray during the wash cycle
  • Incomplete or unsatisfactory cleaning results
  • Unusual noises coming from the dishwasher

This OEM Whirlpool part can also be used on Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore/Sears brand appliances.

Brian, you should be able to put the dishwasher in diagnostic mode to check for proper operation.

The dishwasher fills and drains fine, but doesn’t spray water. The diagnostic cycle said the wash motor isn’t working. The spray arms looked clear. I disconnected the electric wires from the dishwasher, disconnected the water supply line and drain hose. I got one of the pinch clamps off the hose to the wash motor, allowing me to disconnect the hose from the base, but I couldn’t figure out how to finish removing the wash motor without looking like I was going to break something. Can you please let me know how to proceed? My dishwasher is a model WDF520PADM9. Thanks.

KC, On the pump above where the hose is there is a black straight ribbed piece that you will push a tab on and rotate the pump to remove it from the sump.

Hello Clark, first check the wire harness connector to the wash ump motor has not come loose, if ok, likely the wash pump motor has failed, it is part of the sump assembly WPW10482480.

Stefanie, We sent you a tech sheet. It is possible that the wires going to the door switch are damaged and thus would cause a no fill problem.

Mike for Model Number WDT710PAYM6

My dishwasher runs, etc., but the middle and upper spray arms barely move and/or seem to spray out any water at all. I've had the thing out from under the cabinet and checked everything I can, but no giant hunks of glass or globs of food or anything at all untoward was found except for a very small, garden variety rubber band found in the drain pump chamber ("drain pump," part AP6020066 by Whirlpool) that I assume had more to do with produce than my dishwasher. I was, in fact, rather pleased with myself that the innards were so weirdly pristine! LOL! The motor located toward the back (what your site calls the "motor-pump," part number AP6022491 by Whirlpool) does seem to be a LOT louder than it used to be, but there again -- how do you know if that makes a difference? Thanks

Hello Mike, If there are no clogs and the unit is filling with a sufficient amount of water, the issue will have to be an internal water leak causing a drop in the water pressure produced by the water pump. This could be a missing seal at the center spray arm connection point or even a cracked feed tube assembly.

Crystal, Remove power, access and disconnect the two wires from the motor connection. Restore power and start the dishwasher. Once the machine fills and should be washing, use a test light or multi meter and check for 120 VAC across the two wires to the motor. If you have the voltage, replace the pump motor. If there is no voltage, replace the control board, the imbedded fuse or a circuit has failed and there's no power to the motor to make it run.

Crystal, I think first off i would kill power to unit using the home breaker panel.Leave off a couple minutes then reapply power and test unit. You can also test wash motor on control for 5-15 ohms between pins 14-2 and 14-1 on control. If test passes then control part #W10804121 would fix your issue. If fails then part # WPW10482480 is sump assembly.

William, You will want to check to see if there is 120 vac getting to the pump motor. If there is proper voltage then the issue will most likely be a faulty pump assembly and if there is no power then the issue will be a faulty control board.

Hello Bobby. Check and make sure the float is not stuck on the unit. If not, then the water valve will need to be replaced on the unit.
