Mark March 12, 2022 for Model Number Kitchen Aid KDTM404EWH3 Re: Diverter motor W10843811. Can you please tell me if the center metal shaft that turns the Dynamic Wash arm should rotate when bench testing this motor ( A/C current direct to the motor leads) The motor shown being tested does not have the metal shaft extension for turning the dynamic wash arm. The plastic covered portion of the shaft turns slowly as shown in the video to turn the diverter plate. I dont know if the central shaft should turn all of the time when bench tested or if it needs a signal from one of the other sets of input wires to activate that function. Thanks.
1 Answer Mark, Thanks for the question!!! Yes, the output shaft of the diverter should turn when powered with 120v on the bench. If it is not turning replace the diverter. Read More...
Robert Haskin November 21, 2020 for Model Number 665.12793K310 How do I take the top rack out of the dishwasher?
1 Answer Robert, When you pull out the rack, there should be a clip on the sides of the rack in the area of the adjusters that you would need to release in order to get the rack out of the dishwasher. Read More...
Curtis November 09, 2019 for Model Number 665-12793K311 My Kenmore Elite dishwasher is leaking through the diverter motor housing. Is the diverter shaft seal available separately or do I have buy the complete sump assembly? Is there a way to bench test the motor? I'd like to know if this going to be a $70 repair (sump) or a $200 repair (sump + motor) before I fix this. I'd rather put the $200 towards a new dishwasher.
1 Answer Curtis, The manufacturer did not make the seal available without the whole sump assembly. If it has leaked then you will likely need the sump assembly and the diverter motor assembly. Read More...
Krash October 29, 2019 for Model Number Kenmore Elite 665.12803k310 My dishwasher is leaking, near as I can tell, from the diverter motor. But I'm afraid the motor isn't the problem, and that it is a seal that the motor shaft goes into. This seal isn't for sale, and it doesn't come with a new motor. Any ideas? Should I just replace the motor and hope it fixes it?
2 Answers Hello Krash, I'm sorry but the seal is only available with the sump assembly WPW10457989. This is how the manufacturer has set up the part available. Read More...

Martin Santic January 16, 2019 Do you have any idea why the diverter motor is failing on our Kenmore Elite dishwasher. Is this a common failure? Replaced it 6 months ago. Will order my 4th soon. Part W10843811. Is there anything I can do?
1 Answer Martin, The more common issue for failed diverter motors in your type dishwasher, is a leak around the diverter plate shaft. You may want to consider a new "sump" assembly which should include a new shaft seal, or at least check to see if the shaft seal is available as a separate part component. We would have been happy to research the available parts and supplied the parts needed, but you forgot to include a model number. Read More...

Allen March 18, 2017 for Model Number 66512793k310 Lower spray arm not working. How do I test the diverter motor?
1 Answer Allen, To test the diverter motor you will want to test at the main board Connector P7 across the blue wires when the unit is in the wash mode. There should be 120 vac at this point to the diverter motor. You could also check at the motor to make sure that there is 120 vac there. If there is power at both locations then the motor would be the issue. Read More...
