The Rotor Position Sensor is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. It is responsible for monitoring the position and speed of the rotor, ensuring the motor operates correctly to perform various washing cycles. The sensor sends precise data to the washing machine's control board, which adjusts the motor's function accordingly.

Causes of a bad rotor position sensor can include electrical failures, wear and tear over time, or physical damage from impact or moisture exposure. When this sensor fails, it disrupts the communication between the motor and control board, leading to operational issues.

Symptoms of a bad rotor position sensor include:

  • The washing machine not spinning or agitating
  • Error codes indicating motor issues
  • The machine stopping mid-cycle
  • Unusual noises coming from the motor area

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

JJ, The "OL" code indicates the tub is not coming up to speed in the proper amount of time " OL flashes when the machine/motor control detects a load size that exceeds the washer’s capacity OR basket can not disengage. This may signify:Mechanical friction on drive mechanism, not allowing the basket to disengage." You'll need to remove the spin basket and check for articles stuck between or under the tub, and check the drive hub W10820039 for corrosion and distortion causing the tub to remain engaged and cause an excess drag on the drive system.

You will want to check the drain pump to make sure that it is getting power to it and check to make sure that there is no obstruction in it. If there is power when calling for the drain then the pump is either clogged or the impeller has separated from the shaft.
