Part Number: OEM18025674
Manufacturer Part Number: WP3405281

This power relay is an electromechanical switch with a 48 VDC coil that lets the control board safely turn high-voltage components on and off. Replacing a weak or sticking relay helps restore consistent, reliable operation. What it does:

  • Uses a 48 VDC coil signal from the control to open/close internal contacts
  • Switches AC line power to high-demand loads (e.g., heater, motor, fan, or compressor)
  • Helps maintain stable cycling and prevents intermittent operation
  • Helps with symptoms such as no heat or no run, intermittent operation, clicking with no activation, or a component stuck on
What's included:
  • Power relay (48 VDC coil)
Install notes:
  • Disconnect power to the appliance before servicing; allow capacitors to discharge
  • Note/photograph wire locations and move wires one at a time to matching terminals
  • Ensure terminals are fully seated; replace any burnt or loose connectors
  • Mount in the original orientation and secure firmly to prevent vibration

Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Power Relay (48 Vdc Coil) (Part Number: OEM18025674)

Juan, it would be recommended that the igniter 279311 is tested for 120VAC after removing the front bottom panel. If there is 120VAC when the dryer is operating and the igniter is not glowing, the igniter has failed and would need to be replaced.

Josh, This issue would be caused by a faulty motor. The run winding on the motor has failed and will require the motor to be replaced.

Victor, The first thing to check would be, is the ignitor glowing? If not, does it have power to it when the dryer is turned on to heat?

John for Model Number WMH32519CW-2

I need to replace relay part number WP3405280 (AP6008555 is replacement for the relay). From my research, it appears the relay is "welded" in the circuit board. Is that correct (something I don't think I can do) or a plug in (something I could probably do)? If it is welded in the circuit board, I'd probably be better of to either buy a new microwave or buy the circuit board. What's the cost of the circuit board? If I replace the circuit board, should I replace the fuse and the door latches at the same time? Thanks! John

John, Thanks for the question!!! This part is plug and play, no soldering required. Only replace the fuse and switches if they are faulty.

Brian, This relay would not work for the control board on this unit and you would need to get the control board itself which would be part number WP8546219.

My Kenmore Gas Dryer is stopping after approximately 20 minutes in timed mode. If I then hold in the start button the dryer will work but once released it will go off. If I wait 10 minutes (perhaps less) it will run again. I have read different reports on your site and not sure which part. Could it be the Motor Relay? I have read also it could be the motor itself but would rather avoid doing that if it is something simple like the motor relay. Thank you.

Hello Scott. If the motor is starting and running, then the relay should be fine. It sounds like the motor has failed and will need to be replaced.

Travis, Based on the information, this issue would be more likely that the motor relay has failed on the unit. The relay is part number WP3405281.

Hello Wayne, Voltage must be applied to the two small leads to energize the coil in the relay so the contacts will close and show continuity.

Pete, With the igniter not lighting you will need to determine where power is being lost. You will want to disconnect the igniter and turn the dryer on. Test the wires that you disconnected from the igniter and check for 120 vac to ground with the unit turned on. If there is 120 vac on one of the lines then there is power and the timer is sending power. This would leave either the harness being bad or the motor switch. If there is no power then the issue would most likely be either a thermostat that is faulty or a bad timer.

Hello Rick. It sounds like the motor is overheating and is shutting off on the unit. You will need to replace the motor.
