For Whirlpool Surface Element Repair Kit (Connector) (Part Number: OEM12139701)

Hi Tina. You need to remove the power and UN hook the unit. Look at the terminal block. See if the wires there have an issue. Dryer cord part # WX09X10004 3- Prong. 4-Prong is part # WX09X10020. Terminal Block is part # WP61923. If this is ok, then remove the front panel. Use a flashlight and look at the bottom lt. rear area. This is where the heater and thermostat is. The gray wire has a habit of not being connected tight and creates the issue. Use a volt/ohm meter part # MA-DM1 to see if the thermostat is open. If so then test the heater repair kit is part # 37001139. It comes with the thermostats (thermal fuse and hi-limit). Make sure the dryer front panel blower seal is all intact so it does not draw in fresh cool air into the blower hsg. causing the thermostat to cycle improperly. Thank You.

Eric, there is a remote possibility that the element is separated and causing a low heat situation, but it's very remote. When you removed the lint filter did you check for a lint build up in the duct to the blower ? You should also remove the front panel and check the blower seal for a tight fit, we could be sucking cool air into the blower and causing the thermostat to cycle improperly. From there, go with a new thermostat and thermostat heater WP503979 WP61623 after you check the heater element for breakage. Thanks and Good Luck
