Don for Model Number maytag Bravos mvwx500xwo

We noticed the other day water leaking out of are washer. Though maybe the pump was plugged so drain it and layed it back and took pump off and it was clean checked all the drain lines they were clean though maybe there was a blockage between inner tub and outer tub ,got the aggator off but couldn't get the inner tub off then saw theres a nut that holds the inner basket to motor shaft . will try and remove tonight but ran washer with the back off in automatic test mode and saw water leaking around were the motor shaft goes thru both tubs ..Thinking tub seal? Help Don

j, Yes, "the spring side go in first(solid side faces up towards basket" . Make sure you lubricate everything according to the instructions. A small very thin coat of sealant around the outer edge of the tub seal will be helpful as well.

Wayne, The tub seal just pushes into place. You would just push it out from inside the tub and let it drop out of the bottom and insert the new one from the bottom.

I have a water leak from the bottom of my washer. It is slinging out from the transmission/motor. Pad underneath has some black too but I think that is just carried from the belt as it drips. It appears that the issue would be the tub seal, part AP4567772. Looks like everything has to be taken apart to get to it. I was wondering if any special tools or other parts are needed to make the repair. I see some indication a spanner wrench is needed but don't currently have one.

1 Answer

Hello Charles, Spanner wrench TB123B is required for the dis-assembly and re-assembly of this unit. This is a complete teardown and the spanner wrench is the only specialty tool required.

Steve, You're sure you didn't miss anything when you were putting the washer back together, espeially the impeller plate and spanner nut. We'll send you some information, so you can recheck for the proper clearences and tolerances. Thanks
