This top burner valve switch mounts to a surface burner gas valve and closes the ignition circuit when you turn the knob to Lite. Replacing a worn switch restores dependable sparking and stops intermittent or nonstop clicking at the burners.

  • Mounts on the surface burner valve and closes the ignition circuit at the Lite position
  • Signals the spark module to fire the igniters so the burner lights
  • Helps ensure quick, consistent burner ignition
  • Common symptoms: no spark at a burner, intermittent ignition, or continuous clicking with knobs in Off
What's included: 1 top burner valve switch Install notes:
  • Disconnect power and shut off the gas supply before servicing
  • Pull off the burner knob and remove the control/manifold panel to access the valve switch
  • Transfer wires one at a time and align the switch correctly on the valve stem; avoid overtightening
  • Reassemble, restore power, test for spark with gas off, then relight and check for leaks

Jim, It's not likely the spark module 1430322. If that was the case, the igniter wouldn't be "clicking". Chances are when she cleaned the cooktop, she allowed water or the cleaner to spill under the knobs and fall on the igniter switches. This causes a direct short to ground and the igniter reacts by clicking. Once the water evaporates the clicking will stop. You can also remove the knobs and use a hair dryer to dry the area, or leave the unit without power for a few days, and carefully light the burners with a match or grille igniter. If the issue still remains, then you'll need to remove the switch console and check the ignition switches for damage.

John, First thing, remove power to the cooktop and turn the gas supply off at the wall. Remove the vent cover grille, burner knobs, and vent motor knob. Remove the two phillips head screws that attache the escutchean to the cooktop, on the inside of the blower plenum. Lift the escutcheon up in the back slightly and slide the assembly away from the front, until the locking tabs are free and you can then lift the escutcheon up and off the housing. Now you should have access to the switches, remember to change them one at a time, so you don't mix things up. labelling them can be helpful as well. Reverse the procedure, restore power and gas and check the burners for operation.

John, First, check the "tongue" or pin, on the bottom of the areation pan 3401X055-09 make sure it hasn't broken off or bent up. If the tongue doesn't activate the fan bypass switch, the fan will run, whenever a burner is turned on, it's designed to do that, because of the grille burner in the left side bay. You can remove power to the cooktop, remove the burner and pan assembly, and using a small scredriver, insert it into the opening in the bay wall and press down on the switch lever and listen for the switch to "click" off and on several times.

Hello Steve. It sounds like the burners need to be clean and dry. If any moisture or dirt gets into there, you loose the spark. If all of that is good, you may have a switch issue with the unit. It sounds like the module 8215557 is fine in the unit.

I have four top burners with 2 spark igniters . One serves the right two top burners and the other the left 2 top burners. The right igniter works fine when I turn either of the right side gas valves. It clicks, sparks and ignites the burner. When I turn on either of the left burners I hear clicking from the right side ignitor and there is no sparking on the left. This occurs no matter which left side valve I turn on. Could both left burner valve switches be bad? I have cleaned the left (non sparking) ignitor but still the same no ignition and doesn't snap. If I need a new spark igniter on the left side how do I get to the control module to connect the lead? Thanks
