Kevin December 16, 2015 for Model Number KBRS19KTSS01 I have a Kitchenaid fridge model #kbrs19ktss01 The coils in my freezer builds up over time, which makes my fridge warm as there is no air circulating from the freezer to the fridge once the ice is built up. But my freezer remains cold enough for the food to be frozen. Here is the situation. For example, it happened late in the summer, I defroze the coils but the frost came back about 2 weeks later. So I gave it another go thinking I was unlucky. It came back another 2 weeks later. At this point, I decided to check the parts related to the defrost system. I used a multimeter and both the defrost heater and the thermostat checked OK. Also, I used the service diagnosis test from the control panel and the Thermostat test gave me an "S" for short which means the circuit is closed (and is OK). At this point, I thought I had "unstick" the thermostat bi-metal and should be good to go. So I unfroze my coils one more time... But now the freezing came back but it took about 2 months, instead of 2 weeks. Before removing the freezer back panel again, I decided to run the diagnosis test on the THERMISTOR in the freezer this time. As per the service sheet, it should read as a "P" for Pass, but it gave me an O for Open, indicating that the sensor is bad and would need to be replaced... THis is a part that I have not tested with a multimeter... Bottom line, I would really like to avoid ordering the costly control panel, but do you think the thermistor could be at fault for the ice-build up? Can I trust the result from this service diagnosis test from the control board I did and indicating that the thermistor is faulty? Thanks for any advice!
1 Answer Hello Kevin. If the thermistor failed the test, it will need to be replaced on the unit. Read More...

Matt October 24, 2015 for Model Number MBF2258WEB1 I had a defrost issue. I tested things and found the Jazz board was bad. I replaced the Jazz board and programed it to a code 1. Everything was going great for about 36 hours. Then the compressor and condenser stopped running. I have change the start/run capacitor, freezer door switch, Nothing works. I don't have power to the compressor. I put the old jazz board back in and it still doesn't run. I retested the defrost thermostat. It has no continuity when warm so it should be fine. Do you think it could be a thermistor? This unit has 2 of them. The Maytag parts look up does NOT list them but I have 2. What do you think?
1 Answer Hello Matt, The defrost thermostat has nothing to do with voltage to the compressor. The issue will have to be the control board WPW10503278 or the harness. Read More...
Zandra October 08, 2015 for Model Number KFCS22EVMS4 I recently purchased a used fridge, It is not cooling properly. The freezer is set at -1 and the display reads that the temp is -1 but actual temperature is 43. The refrigerator is set to 36, displays and is 47 degrees. The damper is open, can hear and feel the fan located in freezer, seems to be always on. I took the cover off the damper, it is open, can feel cool air blowing, just not cold. When Ive been able to catch the the compressor running the fan was blowing very well out of the back. Compressor was pretty warm to the touch but not overly hot. Let the unit sit for 24 hours after moving it before plugging it in, has been plugged in 48 hours now. Help, Please!
1 Answer Hello Zandra. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like you have sealed system failure and will need an HVAC tech to repair the unit. Read More...
