Roger Gary May 20, 2015 for Model Number Whirlpool Refrigerator WRF560SEYMOO My freezer coils freeze up. Have to defrost with hair dryer once a month. I replaced the heater and control board but that didn't seem to work. My next step is replacing the thermistor but I don't know where it is located.
1 Answer Hello Roger. The thermistor WPW10383615 is on the evaporator coils where you replaced the heater at. Read More...
Don September 17, 2014 for Model Number whirlpool, thermistor #w10383615 Attempting to test thermistor. At room temperature 0 ohm reading. In a glass of ice water, 0 ohm. If placed under running hot water, get a small reading, showing some continuity. Is the thermistor working properly?
1 Answer Hello Don. No, based on your readings, the thermistor is bad and will need to be replaced. Read More...
Patrick September 02, 2014 for Model Number KFFS20EYMS00 What are some values I can test with for the thermistor W10383615? (At room temperature, and in an ice bath?) At room temperature, I'm reading about 480ohms, and it doesn't change much in frost...
1 Answer Hello Partick. The thermistor at room temp would read 5K and The resistance of the thermistor sitting in frost should have a resistance reading of approximately 22.7K ohms. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Steve Trout August 08, 2014 for Model Number WRT771RWYW01 What is the appropriate resistance range for this thermistor? Buried in frost I found it at 2.1kOhm. Would this be correct?
1 Answer Steve, The resistance of the thermistor sitting in frost should have a resistance reading of approximately 22.7K ohms. This thermistor would be faulty and would need to be replaced. Read More...
Larry K. March 20, 2014 for Model Number wrt771rwyb00 Refrigerator freezes food in the fresh food section. I turned it off and reset the temperature control. Could this correct this problem?
1 Answer Hello Larry, Unplugging this control will not reset it. This control WPW10392194 acts as the defrost control and the temperature control. It is the most likely cause of the issue if no frost build-up is in the ducts between the fresh food compartment and the freezer compartment. Read More...
Kumar S December 04, 2013 for Model Number MFF2055YEM00 Have this refrigerator for less than 6 months, but out of the US. I have just replaced the board before it has a defrost problem. Not going into defrost cycle. I THOUGH IT WAS THE MAIN BOARD, BUT SINCE INSTALLING THE NEW ONE I HAS STILL ENCOUNTERING THE PROBLEM WITH THE FREEZER FREEZING UP. How to I check the defrost thermistor to determine if it is good? I would like to buy one to replace it. What else could be causing the refrigerator not to go into the defrost mode. Thanks Kumar
1 Answer Kumar, You would want to do a continuity test on the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat. These would be the only other components that will keep the unit from going into defrost. If there is no continuity on the heater or the thermostat and if there is not continuity on one of the parts then just replace that part. Read More...
Tim December 01, 2013 for Model Number M1BXXLZYB00 Evaporator coils are freezing up. After defrosting with hair dryer, the refrigerator will stay cool for about two weeks. Replaced electronic control board - did not fix problem. Measured heater: 36 ohms. Measured thermistor attached to the suction line while cold: 500 ohms. Is the thermistor measurement value good? What part is defective?
1 Answer Tim, The Thermistor WPW10383615 at room temp would read 5K ohms so the 500 ohm reading is wrong and the part would be bad and need to be replaced. Read More...
Cb February 18, 2013 for Model Number WRT771RWYB Freezer is not defrosting properly and fridge is not getting cold. Ice is forming up the freezer back wall. I hear motor running but no airflow in fridge. What needs to be replaced?
1 Answer Hello CB. It sounds like you may have a defrost problem with the unit. Check and see if there is any frost build up on the back wall of the freezer. If so, you will need to test the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat. They should read closed for continuity when cold. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. I will include a link at the end to assist you how to use the multi-meter if needed. If both parts are good, you will need to replace the defrost timer. Once the problem is repaired, you will need to thaw out the ice on the coils before the unit will operate properly. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
