Wanda, the door gasket WP12550116Q may need to be inspected for a potential air leak which can cause warm air to leak into the freezer and cause the unit to attempt to correct the loss of cold air. The gasket can be tested by placing a piece of paper the size of a dollar in between the gasket and wall. When pulling the paper through, there should be resistance and if there is not, then the gasket is not sealed to the cabin.

Hello Jim. It sounds like you may have a defrost problem with the unit. If so, you will need to test the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat. They should read closed for continuity when cold. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. I will include a link at the end to assist you how to use the multi-meter if needed. If both parts are good, you will need to replace the defrost timer. Once the problem is repaired, you will need to thaw out the ice on the coils before the unit will operate properly. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Raphael, You would not be able to use the thermostat WP10442411 in place of the thermostat R0161088 due to temperature open and close and due to wiring differences. The R0161088 wires through the fan motor and the WP10442411 does not. The connectors are also different.

Lee, You will want to check the evaporator coils to see what kind of frost pattern there is. If there is only a partial frost pattern, frost coming in on only a couple of loops, then there is a sealed system type error that would cause the issue. Also check to make sure that the evaporator fan motor is running. These would be the most likely causes for the freezer not freezing food.
