1 Answer Hello Tim, access the heating element and check if the element has grounded to the inside of the heater housing, this would cause an overheat condition. The replacement element is part WP8544771. Also check the dryer exhaust duct is unrestricted. Read More...
Bryan May 29, 2019 for Model Number GEW9250PW0 My whirlpool duet dryer will blow the thermal fuse about every six months. I have replaced the wiring to the heating element and the heating element itself. When it goes bad the dryer stops turning but the heating element is still on. What could be causing these issues?
1 Answer Bryan, The cause of the fuse blowing could be a couple of things, you could have a blockage in the exhaust that causes a premature failure for the thermal, you could also have a stuck heater relay on the control board. The fact that it stops running and heater still heat tell me the motor is faulty with a centrifugal switch stuck closed. Read More...

Tinmaster June 24, 2017 for Model Number LEC6848AW3 I am changing the high limit thermostat. The one I am removing has 2 posts, 2 wires, neither is connected to the ceramic piece below. The replacement piece has 3 posts, I assume the 3rd is for a jump wire to the ceramic box? How do I connect this now?
1 Answer Tinmaster, The part number for the hi limit thermostat on your unit would be WP3390291 and would only have 2 terminals. Read More...
Bob May 11, 2017 for Model Number he2 kenmore is the 3391914 thermostat suppose to make a rattle noise when you shake it?
1 Answer Hello Bob. Some do rattle a little when you shake them. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
John G March 02, 2016 for Model Number MED9700SB0 My Maytag Dryer takes a long time to dry clothes I think the Heating Element is Ok it measures about 0 ohms, what else could cause the problem and what should that part meter with an ohm meter if defective. Thanks
1 Answer Hello John. It sounds like the venting system is clogged or kinked. You will need to check the vent and clean it out. Be sure and clean the vent pipe and the dryer air duct assembly. If the air flow is not good, the unit will retain moist air causing the clothes not to dry. Try running the unit with the vent unhooked from the back of the dryer and see if the dryer works properly. Joe September 13, 2015 Slowly quite heating. Purchased a Heating Element, no joy. Purchased a thermostat, No joy, have it wired as on u-tube. Still no heat. What's up please... Dryer # 11085866400, Element # 3387747, Thermostat # 3391914. Please help.
1 Answer Hello Joe. Check and make sure you have 240 volts coming to the dryer. Check and make sure the unit is not set to Air Fluff. Also check the thermostats and see if they are good. You can test these with a multi-meter MA-DM1. They should read closed for continuity. Mister James May 28, 2015 for Model Number Whirlpool Cabrio Dryer WED5600XW0 Dryer is running hot. Does not go into cool down mode. I replaced the High Limit Thermostat which did not help. I have sufficient air flow out of the external vent. After I installed the new thermostat while testing the unit I tried running the dryer in the air dry setting. In the Air Dry setting the Heating Element is coming on. There are no error codes on the display and the control panel button all appear to be working. I have not had a chance to try to inspect the Heating Element yet, but I would assume it should not be on even if it is shorted during the air dry setting. Thank you for any help you can provide.
1 Answer Mister James, The most likely cause for the heater staying on through the cool down mode and the air dry mode would be that the heater relay in the control board is stuck closed. The part number that would be needed is part number WPW10317636. Read More...
Brent August 10, 2014 for Model Number Whirlpool 3391914 Recently replace the High limit thermostat, and thermistor due to repeat issues with them failing, about once a year. Its working now however, after the drying cycle the clothes are very hot to the touch. Is there a different thermostat that might be acting up?
1 Answer Hello Jeff, When room temperature, the high limit thermostat should show 0 ohms of resistance. It will open and show infinite resistance, (OL), when heated to the high tolerance of the component. If it shows any resistance other than what the meter reads when the leads are touched together, it should be replaced. Read More...
