Tom May 05, 2014 for Model Number gew9200lwo Lost heat in dryer for the second time in 2 years, first time I replaced the heating element with no problems. This time I noticed the wire that goes from the top element plug to the Hi-Limit Thermostat looked melted. Is this a sign the Hi-Limit Thermostat is junk?? Thanks..Tom
1 Answer Tom, No, not necessarily, It does indicate a high or extended amperage draw on the heat system. You may want to consider this as a replacement 279973 and 279457 to be sure the system is safe and check all the wires for loose connections including the connections at the power cord terminal block. Larry March 02, 2014 for Model Number Maytag2000 My dryer stoppped heating evrything else seems to wrok but no heat. I removed the heating element and then thought it could be something more simple as I cannot find a break in the heating eliment. My questin is will the heating eliment burn out and you cannot see the eliment broken?
1 Answer Hello Larry. Yes it is possible. It is also possible that you have a bad thermostat. The only way to know for sure is to test with a meter. You will want to test the heater and thermostats for continuity. Here's a link that will explain testing. Robert E January 17, 2014 for Model Number GEW9250PW1 I ordered a new heating element from your company. It will arrive today or tomorrow but in the meantime, I have already removed the old one. Here is my question since I foolishly forgot to mark the wires for re-installment. The short black wire (about 5 inches) goes between the thermal cut off and the hi-limit thermostat. They should be both at the bottom connections for each....correct? The red wire at the top of the thermostat (still attached) should go to the upper most connection on the heating element...correct?
1 Answer Hello Robert. The red from motor connects to the heater. Then a jumper from heater to thermostat. Next jumper from thermostat to hi limit. Then the red wire from the board connects to other end of thermostat. Read More...
Leo November 29, 2013 for Model Number GLET1031FSO Frigidaiire Stackable w/D Can you let me know which thermostat needs replacement? The blower works but only cool air is coming out, (no heat).
1 Answer Hello Leo, The most likely part responsible is the thermal limiter 134120900. This part can be easily tested by raising the main top with a putty knife or paint scraper and use a test meter set to the lowest resistance setting. Remove the power from the unit before raising the main top and remove one wire from the part located on the heater housing near the rear and test for the same resistance as read when the meter leads are touched directly together, (zero resistance). If it reads opened, replace the part and check the exhaust duct for crimps or clogs to prevent blowing the new part. Read More...
Gary October 12, 2013 for Model Number GEW 9200LW1 We have a duet electric dryer. Our heating elements last only about 1.5 years. The venting seems to be clear. I wonder if one of the sensors is not working properly and letting the heating element get too hot. I don't know if it would be the Hi limit Thermostat or the Thermal cutoff. Is there any way I can check these 2 sensors? Thanks, Gary
1 Answer Hello Gary, If the unit heats, the thermostats and thermal fuse are closed. The only way to check these is with a temperature check at the dryer exhaust behind the unit. It should be opening at about 205°F and closing at about 105°F give or take 10%. Read More...
Chris June 06, 2013 for Model Number gew9205pl1 Dryer overheating. Blew thermal fuse. Replaced it and heater coil stays on full time. Cleaned dryer and short run vent, spotless. Changed thermistor. And now the heating element that was old and I figured could be shorting somewhere possibly when heating. Checked ohms of resistance on control board at the p25 and p26 wires getting 10.56 ohms. Checked thermostat on heating element housing on stove and it shut off at around 155. please help.
1 Answer Chris, You will want to check to make sure that the cycling thermostat is operating and cutting power to the heating element. Also check to make sure that the heating element is not shorting to ground which would also cause the heater to stay on. Read More...
Misty March 05, 2013 for Model Number GEW925oPL1 Hi my dryer gets hot but won't dry clothes. After an hour they are still wet. I also am gettin a slight burnt smell. How do I know if it is my element or thermostat or etc.
1 Answer Hello Misty. It sounds like the venting system is clogged or kinked. You will need to check the vent and clean it out. Be sure and clean the vent pipe and the dryer air duct assembly. If the air flow is not good, the unit will retain moist air causing the clothes not to dry. Try running the unit with the vent unhooked from the back of the dryer and see if the dryer works properly. Chris February 04, 2013 for Model Number Whirlpool WED9050X Dryer is burning clothes and the vent and vent hose are totally clear and only about 5 feet long anyway. Is this a thermostat, or something else? What parts do I need?
1 Answer Hello Chris, You will want to check the cycling thermostat and the High limit thermostat. One of the thermostats is not opening when the unit reaches temp. Read More...
Luis January 29, 2013 for Model Number GEW9250PW1 I currently replace my heating element the dryer has been working fine ever since, now it heats up runs a complete cycle, but the clothes are still damp?? Even after several cycles, I know its heating but it seem like a sensor or something is indicating false info which leads the machine to think its ready, is there such a component to check or replace? Thank you

Jojo January 14, 2013 for Model Number whirlpool duet dryer Dryer wont heat. Vents clear. Took heating element to repair place and was ok. They felt was thermostat. Gave me ER279769 but got home and was 3391914. Will this work or do I have to go back?
1 Answer Hello Jojo, You will want to look at the thermostat to make sure it has the same rating. The WP3391914 says that it is good afor 146.1f -44.4c. If the part you received is not this rating then you would want to get correct part. Read More...
