  • Controls the cycling temperature of the heating circuit to prevent underheating or overheating
  • Helps resolve symptoms like no heat, not enough heat, long dry times, or temperature swings
  • A faulty thermostat may cause overheating that can trip the thermal fuse
  • Located on the blower housing on many models
What's included: 1 internal-bias thermostat Install notes:
  • Disconnect power and shut off gas (for gas dryers) before servicing
  • Access the blower housing; note wire positions and transfer one at a time
  • Mount the thermostat flush to the housing for proper sensing

For Whirlpool Internal-Bias Thermostat (Dryer) (Part Number: OEM18024822)

Jpa for Model Number MDE3000AYW

Electric dryer model has no heat, I disassembled the heating element (coils) and inspected and the coils have no breaks. None of the ceramic fixtures are cracked and have no burnt marks on them. I replaced the Hi-Limit Thermostat (AP6007530), no fix, I then replaced the thermal fuse (AP6007570), no fix. I removed the Cycle Thermostat internal bias and did a continuity test and the number is at .2k but yet has an internal connection when tone tested. My thermal fuse (AP6007940) also has a good tone test.

JPA, Thanks for the question!!! Looks like you have done some great checks! You didn't mention checking the house volt for 230v. I would start there. Check at the outlet, then at the terminal block. Make sure those terminal block connections are solid. If that is all good you still would need to check the centrical switch of the motor and the timer. Hope you find a simple fix.

Hello Mike, the two inside connectors of the cycling thermostat should be tested for resistance. Also have you verified that you are getting 240 volts to the heating element? The timer supplies 120v through all the thermostats and the other 120v comes through the motor switch on 1 and 2. Hope this helps!

Paul, The resistance of the cycling thermostat would normally be between 5K and 10K but the manufacturer does not list this setting on the unit. It does sound like if it is at 25K then it is defective and would need replaced.

Ognat, You will want to test the temp switch to make sure that the contacts in the switch are making but otherwise will be a bias thermostat that is faulty.

Robert D. for Model Number LSE7806ACE

The dryer heaters are heating, thermostats, etc. have continuity and the drum is turning but air is not blowing out of the exhaust vent which is not restricted. Since the motor is turning the drum and therefore the blower wheel too, could it be the blower wheel not turning on the motor shaft? All else seems to be working properly. Do you have a video on the "stackable" Maytag Washer/Dryer to check the procedure for taking apart and replacing the dryer motor/blower area? I am planning to replace the drum wheels and the bearing because there is a little noise coming from them. Thanks

Hello Robert, You will need to make sure nothing like a dryer sheet has made its' way into the blower wheel. If not, you will need to order and replace Y303836. The drum rollers are 12001541, (two required), and the idler pulley is WP6-3037050. Be sure to use alcohol and a paper towel to remove any sticky residue on the shafts from the dryer softener sheets and never lubricate them since this will cause lint to stick to the lubricant and be pulled into the bushing, causing them to fail prematurely.

James for Model Number SDE5701AYW Maytag Dryer

Out of the blue the dryer will not start. I have tested the door switch, the thermal fuse and the start switch. All three tested good. I ran a power cord with some alligator clips to the motor and it fired right up. The thermostat has continuity. I also made sure that the incoming power had both legs. I even put in a new timer switch. The only part I am not sure about is the cycling thermostat, should the large leads and the small leads both have continuity?

Billy I. for Model Number MDE7657AYQ

Hello. My Maytag dryer MDE7657AYQ stays hot even when it goes through "Cool down cycle on Wrinkle Free Fabrics" setting. I changed Hi Limit Themostat already and checked heating element with my tester and it's fine. I was going to replace Timer, but just in case I bought Internal Bias thermostat from you (parts #3387137 (AP2913007) ) to give it a try. But I can't access to it! Your video shows how to remove back panel but my dryer's back panel is connected to side panel and it's a big one piece. I appreciate if you can show me how to get to this parts. Thank you. Or shall I buy Timer and try it first which is easy to get to?

Hello Mark. You need to test the cycling thermostat to see if it is advancing the timer motor as it should. If not, replace the cycling thermostat.

Sam for Model Number MDE4000AYQ

I need to replace the cycling thermostat and I can not find the exact same one with all the same numbers on it. Does it make a difference if the bad part says L150-15 and the closest one I can fine says L150-20 and the T-O-D on bad part says326816 and the closest new part says 326805? Also, why do all the diagrams and videos I watch and see not show the same dryer as I have. For instance, there is another part right next to the cycling thermostat that I believe is called just a thermostat, (looks the same but only has 2 wires connected vs the 4 on the cycling thermostat) but no videos or pictures have shown that?
