Marc D November 09, 2016 for Model Number MAH14PDAAL The washing machine works well but is sounds like an airplane talking off when it goes into the final spin. Very Loud!
1 Answer Marc, The part number that you would need for this issue would be the outer tub as the bearings are bad and would be part number 22004464. Read More...
Witold May 11, 2014 for Model Number mat12csaaw washer Hi, Maytag mat12csaaw orbital transmission lost oil. How much oil to fill it? Thank you for help. Witold
Mark January 09, 2013 for Model Number A5000 It is 21 years old. It will not agitate once it has filled w/ water and the pump runs. I tried changing the belts, because a lot of black stuff was coming off of them. Now with the new belts on, you can smell burning rubber occasionally.
1 Answer Mark, raise and block the front of the washer up(you can remove the front panel, if you want)) remove the belts. Grasp and turn the transmission drive pulley and turn it clockwise, aftwer approximately 1/2 to 3/4 revolution, the brake should "unlock" and the tub should start to spin. Turn the pulley counter clockwise, it should be a bit easier to turn, and have a helper look in the drum and check to see that the agitator is iscillating. If all OK, you'll need to look at the motor carriage and rollers, motor, and pump. If it is hard to turn clockwise, you'd have a worn out tub bearing assembly. If you cant turn the pulley counterclockwise, or it makes noise, then you'll need the transmission, tub bearing and tub seal kits. Read More...
Carol C October 02, 2012 for Model Number LA190 My agitator does not work. I have replaced both belts however it still does not agitate. It works just fine in the spin cycle. However, it does not agitate in the rinse cycle. My timing is fine as well. Is my transmission gone?
1 Answer Hello Carol. Check and make sure the agitator is not stripped out and if not, and you turn the pulley, but it does not agitate, you will need to replace the transmission on the unit. Read More...
Jerry B. September 28, 2012 for Model Number Maytag washer, model LA712 As a follow up to my earlier question, the bearing may be my problem, and therefore, I will need to replace it. If you think that is the problem and moving the motor will not fix it, should I replace the bearing along with the transmission? If that is the case, considering the expense and time, should I tell my wife we need a new machine?
1 Answer Hello Jerry, This really depends on how much you like the machine. Changing the bearing is a big job and it requires a couple of special tools, (spanner wrench TJ038315, spanner wrench 22038313). The second wrench is no longer available so this job will be harder yet. There is a picture of the tool on page 3-28 of the service manual. The transmission shouldn't need to be replaced unless there is an issue with it. Read More...
Jerry B September 28, 2012 for Model Number Maytag LA712 I have a 28 year old Maytag model LA712 that my wife wants to keep. The transmission fluid leaked out 15 years ago & a Maytag repairman told me back then that it's not worth fixing and we should buy a new one. I think a little still leaks out now and then. Now, 15 years later the machine still works, but after changing the 2 belts (pump & drive), it sometimes will not spin. I can get it to spin if I push & hold the motor towards the outside (thereby stretching & tightening the belts). When it starts spinning, I let go & it continues to spin. Is it time to replace the transmission or should I try moving the motor a little to the outside thereby stretching & tightening the belts? Right now the motor starts to move slightly when I totally pinch the pump belt together.
1 Answer Jerry, A quick easy repair, you'll need, new motor tension springs 202718 and Poly Lube WP99003172. Raise the front of the washer and remove the front panel and belts. With a can of compressed air or "WD 40" and a wrag, slide the motor back and forth while spraying the carriage and roller area, Get it as clean as possible. Remove the original springs, slide the motor assembly towards the back, using the poly lube apply a generous amount to your finger and apply the lubricant to the underside of the upper carriage, side rail and lower rail surface, on both sides, slide the motor as far back as possible(towards the front) and repeat the process. Install the new springs and slide the motor back and forth several times, install both belts. Slightly loosen the three(3) 5/16" hex head screws, holding the drain pump to the base(from underneath the base), Hold the motor in position and "pinch" the center of the pump belt together until the inside surfaces meet, and tighten the pump screws. Lower the front and check the spin cycle. Thanks Read More...
Mik June 24, 2012 for Model Number A5000 matag washing machine What type of lubrication goes in the orbital transmission and how much goes in and how do you put it in?
1 Answer Hello Mik, The transmission fluid 6-0560800 comes in a pre-measured container. If the transmission is empty, the container is the correct amount. The unit has to be laid on its' back and the plate on the side of the transmission is removed. The oil is poured into this opening and then the cover is siliconed and re-installed. Read More...
Walt November 07, 2011 for Model Number A8200 My Maytag A8200 top load washing machines no longer agitates, however it works n the spin cycle. I checked ALL the electrical parts and belts. Do you thing it's the transmission? It's 24c years young.
1 Answer Hi Walt. Yes, if the brake was stuck, then you wouldnt be able to spin. Transmission part # W10841093. If you reach into the agitator and use a "ratchet" motion back and forth. If it does not still forcefully click, you may just need a agitator part # WP207538. Thank You. Read More...
Mario July 24, 2011 for Model Number MAT25CSAAL Sorry for asking again(I ask the previous Q) but I'm confused. My trans. looks completely different, my trans casing(for main gears) is elongated & sitting horizontally, unlike the picture for part #AP4373406. Or does this orbital trans replace the other style? Thanks for your help
1 Answer Hi Mario. Yes this is the replacement transmission for your unit. I have reserched in the commercial laundry section for maytag, and it will not show any difference. This part # is W10841093. Thank you. Read More...
Mario July 23, 2011 for Model Number MAT25CSAAL Hello, The transmission cover cracked on my Maytag commercial washer but my transmission is different (not orbital) than the one shown on the diagram. Do they use different transmissions on the same model washers? And do you sell the top cover (where top shaft comes thru) for my transmission? Thanks,
1 Answer Hello Mario. Based on the model number you provided, W10841093 is the correct transmission. The diagram may be different than the actual part. Here is the part number for the mounting stem kit 6-2095720 as well. Hope this helps. Read More...
