Michael December 05, 2013 for Model Number GSF26C4EXW02 I recently found a link searching in google for issues with my refrigerator making noise when the water is filling the ice, which pointed towards the dual water valve. My chilled water does not make any noise. The refrigerator model number is GSF26C4EXW02. I purchased the water valve off your site (W10258562) per the recommendation based on my issue. I received the new valve and the very first fill was dead quiet, but this happened with the old valve too after making changes in the past (but then was VERY loud). I installed the new valve and it still makes this noise, but just is not always as loud. From time to time it will make a louder noise but not all the time. Maybe there is still an issue with this part? The noise I am hearing sound somewhat like a whistle/hissing in the water line. Again, this only does it when the ice fills so I was hoping that water valve change as recommended would have fixed it. This is quite annoying, as if the ice dropping wasn't loud enough already. I removed the front/bottom cover and I am almost certain the noise is coming from the back valve area, but of course catching the ice maker fill to listen is short lived and far between.
1 Answer Hello Michael. This noise is usually cause from the water pressure coming to the water valve. Make sure your water pressure is around 60 psi coming to the unit. Read More...
