John April 06, 2011 for Model Number mdg6400 I am experiencing an unpleasant odor. Smells like incomplete combustion (not mercaptin/rotten egg smell). Would this be the part I need or can it be cleaned.
1 Answer John, Are you using natural gas or propane as a fuel source ? Most of the time, odors in or from a dryer are do to an outside source, have you painted or stained an article in the house, some insecticides, cleaning coumpounds and polishes can cause the dryer to produce an unexpected odor,as well. As long as you have a proper fuel/air mixture(flame should be blue, with little to no white or yellow tips on the end of flame. No, you cannot clean a gas valve. You may want to check and clean out the cabinet interior, Hope this was helpful and Thanks, Read More...
Eric March 19, 2011 How can I tell if I need a gas valve & coils or just just the coils. Is their a test for the coils? Model # MDG7757AWW
1 Answer Hello Eric. You can test the coils using a multi-meter. The two prong coil will read 1,000-1,300 ohms, and the three prong coil will read 1,300-1,400 ohms across prongs 1&2, and 500-600 ohms across prongs 1&3. Hope this helps. Read More...
