Jorge October 22, 2011 for Model Number mdg6460aww i turn the dryer the igniter glows and stays glowing but no gas ...i change the coils i seen that it has a sleve in the pin where the coils sits but i only seen one sleve i didn't turn it back on to test also is there anyway that you can regulate the flame in the valve by unscrewing it in the regulator if you screw down you get less gas?
1 Answer Jorge, You say the igniter comes on and glows, and stays glowing, it never cycles off ? in that case you have a problem with the radiant/flame sensor WP338906 This switch opens the coils and releases the gas for ignition. The igniter needs to produce a heat range of 2300 to 2500 degrees, it only takes a few seconds( 10 to 15 seconds on average) to reach temperature and the radiant sensor will open the circuit, the igniter will start to fade, and the gas should be released and ignite. No you cannot adjust the flame size or burn time by adjusting the regulator cap. The regulator pressure is preset at the factory for the national standart of Gas Supply company(s). As long as your operating your dryer on Natural Gas you don't need to touch the regulator. Thanks and Good Luck Read More...
Rich B. October 14, 2011 for Model Number MDG3000AWA Maytag Neptune The igniter comes on and lites the gas but then goes out after a minute or so. I have replace the igniter, the thermal fuse and both coils. After I replaced the coils the igniter comes on then the gas for a few seconds then goes out. I also see a flame at the gas valve and it is making a rattling sound when trying to lite. Do I need to replace the gas valve? Thanks Rich
1 Answer Hi Rich. At first it almost sounded like the flame sensor is defective. Part # WP338906, it acts as asimilar as an electric cycling thermostat regulating heat. When you said @ the small / chattering flame then you need to replace the gas valve part # is WP306176. The diaphram is weak and at fault. Thank you. Read More...
Carl September 25, 2011 for Model Number MDG30000AWW ELEMENT GLOWS GAS COMES ON FEW SECONDS THEN GOES OUT COMES ON FEW SECONDS LATER GOES OUT AGAIN DOES THE GAS VALVE HAVE TO BE REPLACED
1 Answer Carl, No the gas valve does not need to be replaced, your first option should be to disconnect the exhaust vent from the back of the dryer and run the dryer empty, and check for the heat process for a few(15-20 minutes) You may have a clogged exhaust vent system and are cycling the safety thermostat, due to the wrong air flow in the dryer. You may also have a weak set of gas valve coils 279834 if the unit stops releasing the gas for ignition and burn, Thanks and Good Luck Read More...
Marco G August 28, 2011 for Model Number MDG9316AWW element glows and flame comes on only for a few seconds, then turns off, after a couple minutes flame starts again but only for a few seconds again. what part do I need to replace? and any advice on where to buy the cheapest?
1 Answer Marco, You first need to disconnect the exhaust vent and check for the ignition and burner operation and burn time. You may have a weak set of gas valve coils, but the burner will not ignite after several ignition cycles if that were the case. You may need these parts 279834, and you're already in the web site with the best prices and warranty . Thanks and Good Luck Read More...
Bud July 07, 2011 for Model Number LDG7334AAE Sudden rotten egg smell (mercaptin?) coming from dryer cabinet. Shut off gas supply and vented room. All pipe and fittings pass soap test, is this a stuck valve or coil problem.
1 Answer HI Bud. The coil has to be electrically energized to "excite" the coils. Yes, I would suggest the gas valve part #WP306176. Hope this helps. Thank-you. Read More...

Bill June 11, 2011 for Model Number ld97500aaw I see the igniter getting hot, I hear the plunger wanting to come up but can't. The igniter de-energizes. If I repeat the steps again and tap on the electrical coils, it opens up and i have ignition for 1-2 mintues. I gather the valve should be replaced, is that correct?
1 Answer Hello Bill. Based on your description, it is possible your coils themselves have failed. I tried to find the part info however, and the model number provided does not pull up in our system. If you can recheck that and provide it along with the serial number of your appliance, we can look up more info. Read More...
