The Refrigerator Water Inlet Valve is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool side-by-side models. This valve regulates water entry to the ice maker.

Causes of failure can include worn solenoid coils leading to inconsistent opening/closing, stripped plastic stems from over-torquing common with mineral buildup areas, or severed wire connections rendering the valve inoperable.

Symptoms involve:

  • Inoperative or slow ice production
  • Ice maker not filling or making ice cubes fully
  • Water leaking or pooling near the valve body

This is a genuine Whirlpool OEM replacement this part is also compatible with Maytag, Jenn-Air, and some Kenmore models.

Note: On some models, there is a separate water connector from this valve. Order part# WPW10445062 for that connector.

For Whirlpool Valve-Inlt (Part Number: OEM17955354)

Valerie for Model Number 10651269104

Hello, Replaced the water valve (W10408180) but it did not come with the customer connect portion of water valve from the original main valve body. This portion is where we screw and connect the copper water supply line to the refrig. Called many parts places and they do not have any idea what I am talking about without a part #. Do you know the part # or what this part is actually called? Even where I could purchase it? Any feedback is definately welcomed!

Hello D. Seeley. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the filter housing WPW10121138 may be bad and need to be replaced on the unit.

Hello Kathy. The first thing to check is the fill tube in the freezer and see if it is frozen and clogged. If so, you will need to thaw out the fill tube for the icemaker to work. If it is clear, you will need to test for power to the valve when the icemaker cycles. If there is none, replace the water valve on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Hello Patrick, My first suggestion is to change the water filter. If the water filter has been changed or by some chance there is no water filter, I would recommend to close the water valve to the unit and remove the water line from it. Place it into a bucket or a plastic trash can where it cannot come out while you turn the water on to check the water pressure to the unit. If it seems like you have sufficient water pressure there, I would at that time replace the water inlet valve.

Hello Tim. Check and make sure the temperature inside the freezer is around 0. If it is to cold, it will freeze the water line in the door. If the temperature is correct, then the fan motor needs to be check and make sure it is running properly. It does not sounds like the water valve W10822681 in the unit. The valve does have 2 separate valves for the ice maker and the dispenser. Hope this helps.
