Water inlet valve assembly includes: Hot and cold inlet valves, thermistor, vacuum break and wiring harness.

The Water Inlet Valve Assembly is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines, designed to control the flow of hot and cold water into the washer. This component ensures that water enters the washing machine at the correct times during the wash cycle, filling the tub to the appropriate levels for efficient cleaning.

Causes for a Water Inlet Valve Assembly to fail include sediment buildup from hard water, which can block the valves, wear and tear on the solenoids over time, and electrical failures that prevent the valves from opening or closing properly.

Symptoms of a bad Water Inlet Valve Assembly include:

  • The washing machine does not fill with water, or it fills very slowly.
  • Water continues to drip into the tub even when the washer is off
  • The washer fills with the wrong temperature of water

This OEM Whirlpool part can also be used on Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore/Sears brand appliances.

Dave, With cold water not working and having a good valve the most likely cause for this will be a faulty temperature switch WH12X10498.

Last July I purchased a Water Inlet valve order # 6778768. Washer was filling very slowly. New part worked for awhile. And now is doing the same thing. I can't believe this inlet valve could be bad already. Also wondering if the old part was really bad.Is there another part that could be causing the problem ? Water pressure at hoses is good screens were checked and no debris. Hoses were new with the valve install. Thanks in advance. Don't want to spend more money to find I still have the same problem. Mark

Mark, If the screens are clear and the unit is filling slowly then this will most likely be the water valve that is causing the issue.

Hi my washer does run the cold water but not the hot water. I opened the washer to take alook at the water inlet valves but i notices that the soneloids on each inlet valve had a small crack. I dont have a leak at all , just cracked . I tried to see of the inlet valves could be clogged but nothing ,clean. Can you advice if this may be the problem or somthing else that i need to also look at? Here are the part numbers to the two cracked solenoids: C-337/09 33190126 W10140914 C-353/09 3390127 W10140911

Frustrated, The most likely cause for not getting cold water if the water valve has been replaced and the water supply is turned on but only getting hot water would be a faulty temperature control switch. The part number for the temp control switch is WPW10168256.
