The Washer Water Inlet Valve is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. This valve controls the flow of water into the washer, opening and closing to allow the correct amount of hot and cold water into the machine during different stages of the wash cycle.

Causes of a bad water inlet valve can include wear and tear over time, sediment build-up, or damage from high water pressure. These issues can cause the valve to malfunction, leading to improper water levels or no water entering the machine at all.

Symptoms of a bad water inlet valve include:

  • Washer not filling with water
  • Slow fill or no water flow
  • Water leaking from the valve area
  • Inconsistent water temperature during cycles

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Mike, Check to make sure that the screens on the water valve are not clogged and check to see if there is a constant 120 vac getting to the valve. If there is not then the control board will be the issue and if there is then this will be a valve issue.

Roger, If you had to shut the water off at the wall to get the water to stop then yes the valve would be the issue. The valve part number is W11210459. If the water shut off when the unit was powered off and did not have to shut off at the wall then check the pressure switch hose to make sure that it did not come loose from the tub and that it is not clogged. If it is not then the issue will be the control board that is faulty. The control board part number is W11218739.

"Fault is displayed when the water level does not change for a period of time OR water is present but main control does not detect the water level changing. The washer enters a pump-out mode and will be unresponsive until it is completed. Removing AC power pauses the pump-out. It will resume when the power is reconnected. Press and hold START for 3 seconds to cancel pump-out mode. Enter diagnostics, retrieve, and clear error codes. Check the following, Is the water supply connected and turned on? • Low water pressure; fill times longer than six minutes. Are hose screens plugged? Check for proper drain hose installation. Is water siphoning out of the drain hose?
