Chuck October 27, 2013 for Model Number maytag la806 The pipes in my laundry room make a noise as the washer fills between cycles. Is this because of a faulty water inlet valve? I have replaced this before as my machine is 33 years old! Thanks. Chuck.
1 Answer Chuck, If the noise is a high to medium pitched whistling type noise, yes the fill valve 205613 could be the issue, you would also want to clean or replace the fill hose screen washers as well. If it is a thumping or banging noise, this is usually the pipes rattling in the wall, that could be due to a change in the water pressure or flow rate, this is referred to as "hammer" and can be reduced or eliminated by installing some "anti hammer" device(s) , available at the local hardware store or plumbing supply outlet. Tk September 29, 2013 for Model Number maytag a9400 Start in regular cycle. Water fills and drains but when it enters rinse no water is put into tub. It goes through rinse without the water, then instead of stopping when complete it goes to the next cycle (permanent press). Replaced the timer but still has same behavior. Also, after running 1-2 loads like the above when trying to start a new load no water at all enters the tub during the wash cycle. I unplug, wait a few hours, then the above happens again.
1 Answer TK, You will want to check to make sure that there is power going to the water valve when calling for water in the rinse cycle. If there is power then you will want to check to make sure that the screens on the valve are not plugged and if they check ok then replace the water valve. Read More...
Johnb September 16, 2013 for Model Number LA712 Cold water intake is miniscule. Cycle works fine but water enters washer during rinse cycle very slowly. Replace intake value? Thanks. John
1 Answer Hello JohnB. Make sure the screens are not clogged. If not, replace the water valve on the unit. Read More...
Scott September 01, 2013 for Model Number lat5006aae My washing machine sometimes does not stop filling sometimes. I have to switch to spin cycle couple time then start over to get it to work proper. Would it be the inlet valve or something else?..
1 Answer Hello Scott. If you can stop the water from entering the machine by turning off the timer or unplugging the unit, you will need to look for a bad pressure hose or replace the pressure switch. If the only way to shut off the water is at the shut off for the water hoses, you will need to replace the water valve in the unit. Read More...
Vicki August 12, 2013 for Model Number Amana ALW480DAW Cold water would not fill into the machine; only hot. Water supply going to the machine is on, water pressure is good and didn't appear to be any clogs. We purchased a water inlet valve or mixing valve and replaced the valve. The cold water filled the machine for one or two loads, then the cold quit filling the machine. My husband doesn't remember where we purchased the valve, so we were just going to purchase another one - maybe we got a bad valve. But I wanted to know if there was any other possible problems, other than the mixing valve, that might be causing this problem. Also, can we purchase just the water inlet valve or do we need to purchase the kit? Thank you.
1 Answer Vicki, Aside from there being an issue with the screens clogging on the water valve, you will want to check to make sure that when the unit is calling for water that there is 120 vac getting to the valve. If there is not then you will want to trace back and check to see where power loss is occurring. Could be a faulty switch or timer causing the issue. The valve is not available by itself and you would need to get the kit R0131578. Read More...
Puzzled June 22, 2013 for Model Number A112 Replaced injector valve and nozzle twice. Water still backs up and runs out top of sleeve. Hose is clean. Does this on warm setting. Seems like water is coming in faster than hose will carry it out. Does water valve regulate amount of warm water flow?
1 Answer Puzzled, The increase in water and flow, when warm water is selected, is due to both the solenoids being activated, and this is "normal". No, the valve does not regulate the amount of warm water flow. There are a couple of things to re check. Make sure the nozzle is installed and seated properly into the valve. Check the interior surface of the sleeve WP22213057 make sure it is clean of sediment, deposits and debris, maybe replace it. Check that the hose from the sleeve to the inlet nozzle is not twisted, kinked, etc. and the inlet nozzle is properly installed and seated in the tub cover. The injector assembly can handle more water pressure and flow than the fill valve can produce. Read More...
Tammie June 11, 2013 for Model Number Maytag A211 Hi, Just wondering what parts do I need to replace for my washer as when it comes to filling with water, the cold/cold water setting seems to whine and act like it won't shut off? I thought I might try a different setting like warm/cold but I suspect that it is a valve or something needs replaced. Also prior to this we would find a little water in the basin before we started a load and on a different setting water would leak out. Thanks for your help
1 Answer Tammie, Great deduction, based on the post information dripping into tub when off, and noisy, "sticky" fill on cold, Replacing the fill valve 205613 should solve all the issues you described. You may also want to consider new hose washers WPY013783 and hose strainers 12001413 ( 2 of each) to get a good trouble free start. Read More...
Mike May 12, 2013 for Model Number LAT9416AAE Washer keeps filling with cold water after it is unplugged and caused it to overfill for about a hour or more when we were gone. So I shut off the cold water and tried the hot and it did not run on it's own maybe a inlet valve? This is a top load maytag model #LAT9416AAE
1 Answer Hello Mike. Yes, based on the information you provided, the water valve is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. Read More...
Stacey April 26, 2013 for Model Number Maytag LA511 Top loader May 1984 Maytag LA511 top load washer is filling up very slow with water, hot or cold. It does fill up and then works well on all cycles, but initial fill and rinse fills slow. Any suggestions on how to repair would be appreciated. Thanks, Stacey
1 Answer Stacey, You will want to shut off the water supply and take the hoses from the back of the washer and check the screens inside the water valve. Make sure that the screens are not clogged. Also check take the hoses from the supply and check to make sure that there is no clog there. If there is no clog then you would need a new water valve as long as water pressure is good. Read More...
Stanley Homeowner April 17, 2013 for Model Number LAT8740AAW Cold water will not work during fill or rinse, inlet screen is NOT clogged, would this be temperature switch or water valve issue?
1 Answer Hello Stanley homeowner. Test for power coming to the cold water valve. If there is power there, and the water does not fill, you will need to order and replace the water valve on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
